In a recent chat with Interview magazine, Selena Gomez and her future husband, Benny Blanco, revealed an endearing tale of how they initially crossed paths, all thanks to Selena’s mom, Mandy Teefey. This delightful duo, who got engaged in the winter of 2024, gave us a peek into the early days of their relationship, which sparked years before they started dating romantically.
Gomez disclosed that her initial encounter with Benny Blanco occurred when she was approximately 16 or 17. As Blanco put it, “Her mom arranged a get-together for us.” At that point, Gomez hadn’t yet embarked on her singing career, while Blanco was merely starting to gain recognition in the music world.
He mentioned that their first release of music was around 2013, approximately. For the past eight years, Mandy and Brian Teefey, her stepfather, have been managing Selena Gomez’s career since her rise to fame on the Disney Channel.

It wasn’t until their second date that Blanco discovered she was the one for him. “As soon as we began spending time together, I thought, ‘This is my future wife,'” he explained.
