
Milly Alcock shared how she felt when she was cast as Supergirl in a recent interview with Forbes.
The actress confessed she was initially overwhelmed by the size of the role. She questioned her ability to pull it off, even calling the director to express her doubts and say she wasn’t sure she could become the character. Ultimately, she realized she needed to have faith in herself. She believes everything happens at the right time, regardless of whether you feel prepared or not.
Supergirl is a new superhero movie based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El. Craig Gillespie directed the film, and Ana Nogueira wrote the screenplay. It’s the second movie planned for the DC Universe.
Melissa Benoist plays Supergirl in this new film, with Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham also starring. The movie centers on Supergirl’s risky journey across the galaxy as she seeks revenge. James Gunn and Peter Safran of DC Studios produced the film.
A Supergirl movie has been in the works since August 2018, originally intended as part of the DC Extended Universe. The character made her first appearance on screen in the 2023 film The Flash, portrayed by Sasha Calle. After James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as co-CEOs of DC Studios in October 2022, the plans for a separate Supergirl film were revised.
A Supergirl movie based on the comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow was officially announced in January 2023. Milly Alcock was cast as Supergirl in January 2024, and Craig Gillespie signed on to direct in May 2024. The film, written by Francis Nogueira, was shot between January and May of this year at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, as well as various locations in London and Scotland.
The movie will come out in the US on June 26, 2026, and is the first installment in DCU’s ‘Gods and Monsters’ series.
Kara Zor-El turns twenty-one and embarks on a galactic adventure with her dog, Krypto. Along the way, she befriends a girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, but a terrible event sets Kara on a dangerous quest for revenge.
