How John Elton Felt A Persona Change After Taking Up His Stage Name; Find Here

As a dedicated follower of Elton John’s journey, I find his story incredibly inspiring. From ditching his birth name to embracing the iconic ‘Elton John,’ it’s clear that he has always been a trailblazer. His struggle with fame and identity is something many celebrities can relate to – the initial thrill of success often leading to a sense of emptiness and disconnection from one’s roots.

Often, artists choose to adopt a stage name instead of their birth names, much like Elton John did. He wasn’t fond of the name Reginald Kenneth Dwight that his parents gave him at birth, so he opted for a new identity.

On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, John discussed the reasons behind his name change and the process of choosing ‘Elton John’ as his stage name. Throughout the interview, the musician disclosed that adopting his stage name significantly influenced his on-stage character.

In a conversation with the host, Elton John expressed, “What was unfortunate was that by 1975, when I was known as Elton Hercules John, I had lost Reg, and I desperately wanted to rediscover the child I once was.

The renowned artist, Elton John, reflected on his career by saying, “I attained ‘Elton John: Superstar’ status and I bore the cost of such fame because I lacked a solid foundation beneath me.” He admitted that fame is an unusual phenomenon which he relished until he recognized it was the sole aspect in his life.

The lead singer of “I’m Still Standing” admitted to disliking something which caused a change in his emotions, making him unhappy, and subsequently turning to drug use. He confessed to questioning his identity, location, and personal transformation.

During their conversation earlier, the singer disclosed that he chose his stage name, Elton John, which was inspired by two bandmates from Bluesology, a British blues band he played with during the 1960s.

It was mentioned by John that one of the group’s members went by Elton Dean, and he found it unusual because not many people share that name. As for his surname, he adopted it from the band’s vocalist, Long John Baldry, and chose his middle name, Hercules, inspired by the character from the British sitcom Steptoe and Son.
