How Does THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY Season 4 End the Hargreeves Siblings’ Stories?

As a long-time fan of the quirky and captivating world of The Umbrella Academy, I must say that the fourth season has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. From the heartwarming moments between Five and Lila’s blossoming romance to the jaw-dropping revelations about Ben Hargreeves and Jennifer, each episode left me on the edge of my seat.

In their fifth and concluding adventure, The Umbrella Academy reunites the Hargreeves siblings for one last mission to save the world. Over four seasons, we’ve witnessed numerous global and personal crises within the Hargreeves family. However, this final journey brings a (literal) goodbye to the family, leaving us with a rather melancholic conclusion.

In a fresh timeline that’s six years old, the Hargreeves siblings are figuring out how to navigate life without their special abilities. Reginald’s manipulations with time from past seasons have culminated, leading him to reunite with his estranged wife, Abigail. However, they now face one final catastrophic event known as “The Cleanse.” A group called “The Keepers” aims to initiate The Cleanse, hoping to restore the original timeline depicted in Seasons 1 and 2. Interestingly, it’s revealed that Abigail is instrumental in causing The Cleanse, serving as a corrective measure for her and Reginald’s error in introducing the marigold particles that bestowed the Hargreeves with their powers. They both bear the consequences of their actions together.

Are the Hargreeves Able to Finally Save the World in The Umbrella Academy Season Four?

To prevent global catastrophe, the Hargreeves siblings must vanish from history, resulting in a world without them or any future apocalyptic incidents. Let’s explore what becomes of each Hargreeves sibling during the fourth and concluding season of The Umbrella Academy.

What Happens to Luther Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy Season Four?

In a stunning twist of fate, Luther, who met an unfortunate end at the hands of his own father in season three, has miraculously returned. This time around, he appears more human than ever before. Unfortunately, he finds himself bereft of his beloved wife Sloane, who was part of the Sparrow Academy in the previous timeline. Despite his valiant efforts to locate her, Luther is unsuccessful, and instead resides in a dilapidated building that once housed the “Hargreeves Home for Wayward Boys.” For a considerable amount of time, Luther yearned to restore the Umbrella Academy to its former glory, but fate had other plans. Fortunately, he manages to keep his siblings united for one final adventure, ultimately sacrificing himself alongside them.

What Happens to Diego Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy Season Four?

During season four, Diego and Lila welcome three children into their peaceful household. Despite feeling somewhat disenchanted due to losing his powers and having a job as a delivery driver, he is given one final opportunity to become the crimefighter he always aspired to be. With his enhanced powers, Diego can now command numerous projectiles simultaneously, an upgrade from before. However, the main development in his storyline revolves around the revelation of what truly matters most in his life: his beloved wife Lila and their children. In the climax, they evacuate their kids and extended family, praying that a timeline reset will keep them safe. Unfortunately, both Diego and Lila are eliminated from the timeline, but fortunately, their family remains alive.

What Happens to Allison Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy Season Four?

Following Allison striking an agreement with her father to return daughter Claire and husband Ray, they are both noticeable at the end of season three. However, in season four, Allison and Ray have parted ways. Allison now resides with Claire and their brother Klaus. Initially shunned by her other siblings due to the bargain she made with Reginald, Allison manages to rebuild relationships with them. What could be a more fitting way than having to save the world once more?

Initially, Allison manipulated others through her speech, now she possesses telekinesis. Her abilities have expanded, yet so has her determination to safeguard her daughter. This conflict reaches a peak near the end of the season, as she bids farewell to Claire and sends her with Lila’s family. By the closing moments of season four, both Claire and all members of Lila’s family appear to be thriving, but it remains uncertain if any of the children recall their parents.

What Happens to Klaus Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy Season Four?

Towards the close of season three, Klaus meets death (for the second time) and then is resurrected (once more), only to unveil a startling revelation: their father orchestrated both his and Luther’s demise. In season four, Klaus finds himself powerless and appreciative of this state, choosing to remain sober. However, when Allison resurrects him with marigold, the source of their powers, it propels Klaus back onto a self-destructive trajectory that can only be halted by his family. Despite the hardships he has faced, Klaus shares a heartwarming bond with his niece, Claire, whom he affectionately refers to as “Claire Bear”. Although Klaus fears being mortal once more, he bravely volunteers to lay down his life, along with his siblings, in an attempt to save the world.

What Happens to Five Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy Season Four?

As a weary gamer, I’m sick of being the one who always saves the world. However, fate has it that I must do it once more, and this time, I stumble upon a solution that seems to hold fast. I decide to take on a new role as a CIA agent, delving into the enigmatic Keepers. My unique abilities yet again involve bizarre time travel, allowing me to teleport only to a specific subway station. This station, surprisingly, transports me to the same moment in different realities. With Lila by my side, I embark on a journey to another timeline, getting trapped there for six long years.

In an unexpected twist, Five and Lila develop feelings for each other while trapped in a parallel reality, with no one else around. After discovering a means to return home, they face familiar chaos within the Hargreeves family. Typically evading conflicts or his bothersome siblings by blinking away, Five chooses to stay and confront issues alongside his kin during the climactic event that resets the timeline through their collective sacrifice.

What Happens to Ben Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy Season Four?

Previously hesitant family member Ben now displays his sassy side in this final showdown. Interestingly, he’s just been released from prison following financial mismanagement involving cryptocurrencies. This new season offers insight into the disappearance of the original Ben. In the previous storyline, the original Ben was fatally involved in an incident with a girl named Jennifer. Their encounter initiated a series of events that could have annihilated the world. The timeline’s Reginald terminated both Ben and Jennifer to prevent this catastrophe. However, the new Ben encounters a different Jennifer, leading to dramatic consequences. Despite being part of the Cleanse, Ben makes every effort to shield his siblings from potential harm caused by himself.

What Happens to Viktor Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy Season Four?

To begin the season, Viktor resides in Canada without his powers, enjoying a carefree lifestyle. He manages a bar and tends to maintain a distance from the rest of the Hargreeves clan. However, despite his attempts at detachment, he is inevitably dragged back into their activities for one final adventure, gaining new abilities that enable him to emit laser-like energy. Additionally, Viktor gets an opportunity to reconcile with the latest iteration of his father. As the Cleanse approaches, he tirelessly works to safeguard his family from harm.

What Happens to Lila in The Umbrella Academy Season Four?

Initially, we encounter Lila as she assumes the role of an undercover agent with the aim of drawing nearer to the Hargreeves siblings. Over the course of time, she manages to integrate herself into their familial bonds. In the previous timeline, Lila possessed the ability to mimic other individuals’ powers, albeit within specific limits. During season four, this talent remains, but now, she can emit beams from her eyes, much like Superman does. By the end of season four, Lila discovers that she is expecting a child, which leaves her feeling quite anxious about motherhood. Following their transport to another timeline, Lila and Diego choose to establish a family together.

After six years, Lila finds herself discontent as a homebound mother and secretly pursues undercover investigations on the Keepers. Simultaneously stranded in an alternate reality, she forms emotional bonds with Five, longing for her family’s return while also developing feelings for him. Upon discovering their means of escape, Lila is overjoyed to be reunited with her kids but remains conflicted about her feelings towards Diego and Five. Parting ways with her family proves to be the hardest decision for Lila, but she ultimately makes the sacrifice to stay behind with the Hargreeves clan one last time, in an effort to save the world.

As a fan, it’s tough to accept that our journey with The Umbrella Academy has come to an end – not that I’m surprised, but still… It’s uncertain if there will be more adventures for these extraordinary siblings, and honestly, that thought makes me a little melancholic. This band of super-powered siblings has become a part of my gaming world, and I’ll truly miss the thrilling rides they took us on.
