In Elden Ring Nightreign, the same set of stats as in the original game are utilized. Yet, there’s a twist: instead of choosing which stats to boost when leveling up, the process is automatic. This means that the crafting of character builds may be more restricted, and it could significantly impact how powerful your Nightfarer becomes during an Expedition.
Stats determine how well your character uses certain weapons and spells in Elden Ring Nightreign. While you can mostly ignore how stats work, you’ll want to know how they affect your character if you want to make the most out of what they have to offer. Here’s a brief rundown on how stat scaling works in this game.
How Do Stats Work in Elden Ring Nightreign?
When a player advances to higher levels, the game automatically distributes upgrade points into attributes like Strength and Dexterity, depending on the chosen character. Each character in the game has preset stat growth values that decide how effectively characters grow with particular stats as they progress through levels.
As a seasoned gamer, I can tell you that characters who have a superior scaling for a particular stat will deal more damage with weapons that share the same scaling. For instance, Executor boasts an S-rank scaling with Dexterity. At level 15, wielding the standard Dagger (which has an S scaling in Dex) as my weapon, I’m dishing out a whopping 88 damage per hit on those wooden training dummies in the Sparring Grounds. On the other hand, Duchess, with her B ranking in Dexterity, only manages to deal 73 damage with the same weapon and target.
As a gamer, I can tell you that a character’s stat scaling rank essentially sets their initial stats and decides how many hidden points are added to those stats as my character levels up. Unfortunately, we can’t see the exact numbers, but the grading system, like A, B, C, D, or F, gives us a good ballpark idea of where our character stands.
Weapon Scaling Values
Similar to the initial game, each weapon in Nightreign is tied to distinct attributes for optimal performance. For instance, larger weapons tend to be more effective when wielded with a high Strength level, while finesse-based weapons work better with increased Dexterity. Additionally, magical abilities or Sorceries are influenced by Intelligence. To check the scaling values of these weapons, you can inspect them in the Visual Codex.
Executor’s special Cursed Sword appears to scale off Dexterity and Executor’s level itself.
Which Weapons Should You Use?
As a Nightfarer gamer, I’d say the ideal weapons for me are those that amplify my primary attributes the most. For instance, the Executor performs exceptionally well with Dexterity-based weapons and certain Seals, considering it excels with Beast/Dragon Incantations which scale off Arcane. On the other hand, Duchess shines brightest when wielding Dexterity-based weapons and Magic, thanks to her B scaling in Dexterity and A scaling in Intelligence.
It’s advisable for Nightfarer players not to limit their weapon choices based on personal preferences. Instead, they should experiment with various weapons since the game’s item tooltips factor in a character’s stats. Therefore, the attack value displayed for each weapon already reflects your character’s proficiency with it.
Don’t let low attack numbers discourage you. These weapons often make up for their lower attack values with status effects or Weapon Arts, so keep that in mind when making your choice.
Other Scaling Tips
- Leveling up is the best way to increase the damage you deal.
- Flat stat bonuses from Relics roughly translate to +1-2 extra damage per bonus stat point.
- Relics that increase attack power after equipping three or more of the same weapon type provide ~5-6 bonus attack damage.
- Despite being caster classes, Recluse and Revenant scale decently well with most melee weapons.
