Chris Hemsworth talks about superhero franchises’ durability

Before the premiere of the science fiction animated film “Transformers One” in September, Hemsworth, who provided the voice for Optimus Prime using an unidentifiable American accent, shared his thoughts on all things related to Transformers during an interview with Den of Geek. When asked by the interviewer why massive superhero franchises with large fan bases continue to thrive, Hemsworth replied:

Hemsworth explained that compelling storytelling is the key to success, be it comics, movies or even Shakespearean plays. There’s always a rich mythology and underlying symbolism involved in these stories, making them timeless.

The actor from “The Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” shared how this world resonated with him as a child due to its exploration of moral dilemmas, serving as a guiding force in his life. He further remarked, “The choices you make matter, and I believe there’s something admirable about Optimus Prime that children can aspire to.”

Hemsworth revealed what drew him to the project

Thor actor from Marvel, who is a fan favorite, was drawn to the original story of Transformers: One. Set billions of years ago, this movie focuses on two young mining friends, Orion Pax and D-16, who later develop into fierce adversaries.

In my perspective as a devoted fan, I’d like to clarify that this production isn’t a simple remake or reimagining of the original story. Instead, it offers an intriguing exploration into the past lives of the characters we came to know later in their journeys.

“He appreciated the intricacies of the film’s exploration of relationships and friendships, which fans of the older character portrayals may not have recognized. According to him, it explores the depth of courage and how good and evil are more nuanced than they seem.”

Transformers One will hit the theaters on 20 September 2024.
