How Did Samuel L Jackson and Jamie Foxx Help Leonardo DiCaprio With N-Word Problem on Django Unchained Set? Back in Action Star Reveals

Jamie Foxx is discussing how he and Samuel L. Jackson aided Leonardo DiCaprio in handling dialogue containing offensive language during the filming of the well-known movie, “Django Unchained.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d share an intriguing tidbit from my chat with Vanity Fair: It turns out that the illustrious Titanic actor found it challenging to utter explicit language on screen, even after numerous takes. Regrettably, he was unable to successfully articulate the ‘N-word’.

In a conversation with DiCaprio and Jackson, the action hero mentioned that he offered suggestions for DiCaprio to portray his character in a manner that was completely distinct from his true-life persona.

The entertainer-humorist shared with the news outlet that his co-star struggled with using a racial slur, particularly the N-word. He explained, “During rehearsals, Leo said the N-word and then he paused, asking everyone to stop, saying, ‘I’m just not comfortable with this. This doesn’t feel right for me.’

In a different phrasing, when discussing strategies with The Wolf of Wall Street actor, Foxx asked Leo DiCaprio to envision him not as Jamie Foxx but as his Django character. He stated, “I told him, ‘Leo, during the days of slavery, we wouldn’t have conversed with each other.’

As a devoted fan, I’d put it this way: “The comedian persistently asserted, ‘I’m not your buddy, nor am I Jamie Foxx. I’m Django, if you will. To portray that character authentically, one must truly grasp the essence of slavery – it was grueling, it was appalling. There wasn’t any laughter or revelry among the enslaved.

Regarding the film, it was a massive success at the box office upon its release in 2012. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jamie Foxx, the movie also featured Kerry Washington, Christoph Waltz, and Walton Goggins under the direction of Quentin Tarantino.

The movie is available to stream on Prime Video.
