Hozier sustained two blows to his head, causing a wound. As he gently touched the injury, blood started flowing. “I saw my fingers stained with a little bit of blood and thought, ‘Oh dear, I’m bleeding,'” the artist remarked. In a narrative to the crowd, Hozier shared, “I glance to my left and there’s Cillian Murphy sitting nearby, he says, ‘Hi there, how are you? I simply wanted to express my gratitude for your part in that project…’ The audience cheered in delight as he spoke.”

The Irish singer informed the audience that the only ever interaction he’s had with the actor before was through “one email exchange” for a collection of essays Murphy was putting together for UNICEF. The contributors ranged from the Irish President to various political figures and artists, including Hozier. 

It’s noteworthy that when the Peaky Blinders actor encountered Hozier, whose real name is Andrew Hozier-Byrne, he happened to catch him at an awkward moment. Since it was a critical situation, all he could manage was a simple “Thanks” before the star. In jest, the singer revealed that he was trying to maintain his composure in front of the famous Hollywood figure.
