How ‘Agatha All Along’s’ Nicholas Scratch Could Pave the Way for Dormammu’s Return to the MCU

As a seasoned gamer with decades of Marvel Universe immersion under my belt, I must admit that the debut of ‘Agatha All Along’ has left me spellbound! The magical lore unfolding in this series is not just captivating, but it’s also subtly hinting at potential connections to some of the franchise’s most formidable villains.

In a fresh turn of events, ‘Agatha All Along’ has introduced its initial episodes, unveiling an untouched aspect of magic within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), despite the frequent appearance of potent sorcerers in the series.

The series seems to be paving the way for upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe endeavors, and interestingly enough, it might tie into a former nemesis – Dormammu.

Recently, there was talk about the possibility of Dormammu re-entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Initially, it seemed his comeback might involve a character named Clea, who debuted in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” But with the arrival of “Agatha All Along,” another potential connection to Dormammu has emerged: Nicholas Scratch.

Although Nicholas himself isn’t present, his name seems to appear in a setting that resembles an old children’s bedroom. It’s plausible we might be dealing with him under the guise of Agatha’s pet rabbit, Señor Scratchy, instead.

It’s likely that the show will adhere to the comical roots of Nicholas Scratch as a character. He is Agatha’s son, but their relationship has never been easy-going. They are both from New Salem, a secret town inhabited by witches and warlocks, where Agatha once held authority. The name “Nicholas” in this context is a blend of folklore, drawing inspiration from the Devil’s two aliases, “Old Nick” and “Mr. Scratch.

In the end, Nicholas eventually deceives Agatha following her departure from New Salem to pursue a regular lifestyle. He gathers a band that apprehends and nearly executes her, but she is miraculously rescued. The people of New Salem then turn against him. Cast out, Nicholas winds up in the Shadow Realm where he serves Dormammu, aspiring to attain the position of Sorcerer Supreme.

Following New Salem’s downfall, the enigmatic character known as Scratch reappears in Centerville, disguised as “Mayor Nicholas.” Centerville is overtaken by demonic forces. Upon her return, Patsy Walker, alias Hellcat, discovers that the town is ensnared in a complex plot orchestrated by developers, the Sons of the Serpent, and Salem’s Seven. The Avengers and Thunderbolts intervene to liberate the town, but Patsy persists, exposing Scratch’s role in the scheme, acting on behalf of Dormammu who aims to seize control of Hell and elevate Scratch to the position of Sorcerer Supreme. However, their schemes are eventually thwarted by other rulers from Hell.
