As a dedicated fan of House of The Dragon and a follower of Paddy Considine’s acting career, I was absolutely thrilled to see him return as King Viserys Targaryen in last Sunday’s episode. Considine brought the late king to life with such depth and nuance that his absence from the show felt like a gaping hole in its fabric.
Paddy Considine returned as King Viserys Targaryen one last time!
Last Sunday, I was completely absorbed in House of the Dragon’s latest episode. As a huge fan of Daemon Targaryen, played by the brilliant Matt Smith, I couldn’t contain my excitement when during his intense hallucination scene, my favorite character made an appearance. It was as if fate had conspired to bring him back for one last hurrah!

Paddy Considine reprises his HOTD role in the latest episode
The actor from The Cinderella Man expressed sadness in simple terms, saying he felt deprived of something meaningful as the show no longer included him. He found joy and duty in being part of the production. Additionally, he acknowledged the crucial roles of his makeup and costume designer, as well as Ryan Condal, for providing him with the opportunity to excel and create a powerful character.
He expressed disappointment about not being able to place the statue in his garden, but the art department surprised him with a personal sculpture instead. This unexpected gift, which he will cherish, comes along with precious memories.

What do Daemon Targaryen’s hallucinations signify?
As the Targaryen Civil War nears its end, both the Blacks and Greens are actively seeking support and forming alliances to secure their victory. Meanwhile, Daemon’s plans to raise an army for Rhaenyra at Harrenhall have taken a turn for the worse, leaving him in mental distress.
In the sixth episode of House of the Dragon’s second season, the wayward prince is plagued by vivid mental images of his own deep-seated fears, doubts, and remorse. These intensely realistic figments of his imagination border on hallucinations, pushing him closer to the brink of madness. During this episode, he crosses paths with his late brother and former ruler, Viserys.
In the scene, Daemon discovers Viserys on the iron throne, deeply distraught and accusing Daemon of not being present during Aemma Arryn’s demise. The deceased monarch denies Daemon’s claim to the throne, and Daemon refutes him vehemently. In another vision, Daemon embraces a sorrowful Viserys as he grieves for his late wife, expressing regret for not being at her side during her final moments.
While some viewers may find these scenes tedious and underwhelming, they offer a deeper look into Daemon’s internal struggles. Regardless, all the characters on the show could benefit from some professional counseling.
House Of The Dragon season 2 is available to stream on Max or Jio Cinema.
