In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Parekh discussed a particularly difficult-for-her scene and shared why it presented various challenges for her as its director.

“She mentioned that Anthony Flanagan’s character was set ablaze as he tried to mount Seasmoke, the dragon in search of a rider.”

Parekh added, “The scene where Rhaenyra and Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno) shared a kiss was quite difficult for us to portray authentically and convincingly.”

As an obsessed fan, I couldn’t help but be captivated by the heartfelt scene between Rhaenyra and Mysaria. I found myself taken aback by the unexpected connection between them. I didn’t want their moment to feel out of place or disconnected from the rest of their emotional journey. Instead, I longed for it to seamlessly fit into the narrative and deepen our understanding of their complex relationship.

I’d put it this way: “Rhaenyra’s husband has left her, making their intimate moments all the more precious. They feel authentic, heartfelt, and deeply meaningful to her.”

In the interview, the director was queried about what captivated her upon reading script number 6 for the show. Parekh expressed her fondness for the episode’s narrative, as it depicted Rhaenyra and Alicent at their most despairing moments.

The director revealed that Alicent is facing expulsion from the council and deeply mourns the absence of one of her sons. In contrast, Rhaenyra’s spouse has left her, leaving her to endure solitude and feelings of isolation.

Additionally, Rhaneyra has men making strategic decisions without consulting her. According to Parekh, these two characters are portrayed as solitary figures. Regarding her role in this episode, Parekh mentioned that maintaining the suspense over the developing situation in King’s Landing and Westeros, leading up to the impending war, was a significant challenge for her.

In her own words, she mentioned that there’s a distinct sense of despair and impending disaster in each segment. Having observed the result of one clash, Parekh warned us about the upcoming fight.
