Host Jean Smart Takes Audiences To A Trip Down The Memory Lane In SNL’ 50th Season Premiere Promo; WATCH

As a dedicated SNL fan with over 40 years of laughter etched into my memory banks, I must say that this upcoming season is shaping up to be a nostalgia-filled extravaganza! With the likes of Jean Smart, a recent Emmy winner and a seasoned actress, gracing our screens as host for the season premiere, it’s clear that the show will be in good hands.

The first teaser for Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary season has been revealed, and it makes extensive references to the historic past of the show. This weekend’s host, Jean Smart, who recently won an Emmy, is featured in the video, which switches between vintage SNL scenes and Smart trying to deliver her lines before the next bit of nostalgia rolls by.

In the promotional video, the star of Hacks, who is set to host the season premiere this coming Saturday, declares, “Fifty years of hosts, fifty years of laughter, fifty years of memories.” Scenes from the show’s initial seasons featuring performers like Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin, and others are interspersed throughout her speech.

Smartly retorts, “It seems like you’re planning to play a clip from each season to abruptly end our conversation.” As some of the earlier clips start playing, she eventually requests, “Could we please focus more on me for a change? I’d appreciate it if we could shift the discussion towards my perspective.

Starting on September 28th, I’ll have the privilege of co-hosting an eventful evening with another esteemed Emmy attendee and a talented musician, Jelly Roll. Notably, he graced us with his performance during the In Memoriam tribute. It promises to be an unforgettable night!

On October 5, Comedian Nate Bargatze will return as host, joined by musical act Coldplay. Ariana Grande and Stevie Nicks perform on October 12, followed by Michael Keaton and Billie Eilish on October 19. John Mulaney hosts on November 2 with Chappell Roan as the musical guest.

For Season 50 of SNL, three fresh faces – Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline – will be added to the cast. After two successful seasons as featured players, Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker have been promoted to the main cast. Colin Jost and Michael Che will continue their roles as hosts of “Weekend Update.
