What is Horizon Zero Dawn about?
In simple terms, “Horizon Zero Dawn” is an action role-playing video game created by Guerrilla Games and released on PlayStation 4 in 2017, later also for PCs in 2020. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic environment where humans live alongside colossal, machine-like creatures resembling animals.
In this scenario, characters assume the identity of Aloy, a proficient hunter and archer who was brought up as an outcast by the Nora tribe. Aloy’s adventure is about self-exploration as she pursues explanations for her enigmatic background, the rationale behind her outcast existence, and her ties to the sophisticated technologies hidden throughout the world. During her journey, she unearths the reality concerning the ancient civilization that came before hers and the devastating occurrences that caused the rise of machines.

Players are given the freedom to traverse this landscape, engaging in optional tasks, hunting for collectibles, and unearthing concealed mysteries. At its core, the gameplay revolves around the struggle against robotic beasts that inhabit the terrain. The protagonist, Aloy, employs a mix of weapons, traps, and her “Focus” gadget—a sophisticated tool that helps her detect machine vulnerabilities and survey her surroundings.
