Honkai: Star Rail – Saber build and ascension guide

Chant the sacred name of Excalibur with your top Honkai: Star Rail Saber setup, and show that you deserve to bear the title of Knight-King by demonstrating your prowess. In the realm of HSR, Fate’s Saber enacts The Destruction, inflicting strong Wind damage. She is a formidable force on the battlefield, relying heavily on her Ultimate ability.

Saber’s fundamental attack, titled “Invisible Air: Barrier of the Wind King,” inflicts wind damage proportional to her attack power on a single enemy.

This ability is called “Air Strike: Hammer of the Wind King,” and it inflicts wind damage on a target and nearby enemies, based on the wielder’s attack power. If the user, Saber, has activated Core Resonance and can completely recharge her energy by using this resonance, she will automatically deplete all Core Resonance stacks to restore energy to herself and boost this attack’s potency. However, if these conditions are not met, the ability will instead replenish three Core Resonance stacks for Saber.

Saber’s powerful move, Excalibur, discharges Wind damage based on her attack power to all opponents, and then follows up by hitting ten more instances of Wind damage, also based on her attack power, to random enemies. After using this attack, Saber can only use the enhanced basic attack, Release, the Golden Scepter, in her next turn. This move adds two Core Resonance to her, deals Wind damage to all opponents, and has extra potency if there are only one or two opponents remaining on the field. Additionally, it grants her the Mana Burst effect. When activated, Mana Burst can be combined with Core Resonance to restore a Skill Point for the team, providing Saber an immediate turn.

In combat, Saber acquires Core Resonance not only upon entry but also when allies unleash their ultimate abilities. When allies use their ultimates, it boosts Saber’s total damage output for the subsequent two turns. For each point of Core Resonance gained during a fight, Saber receives an enhancement to Critical Damage, up to a maximum of eight points.

As a devoted fan, I’d like to draw attention to the way Saber from Fate Grand Order manages her power. In essence, she has the ability to bank extra Energy within herself, and then afterwards, she can replenish an equivalent amount of vitality back into her reserves following the use of her Ultimate move.

Obtaining duplicates of Saber upgrades her Eidolon Level and unlocks additional power-ups:

Honkai: Star Rail – Saber: best Light Cones

As a gamer, I’d say my preferred skill set, the Light Cone – A Thankless Coronation, perfectly suits my character. It boosts her CRIT damage and attack, plus it has this nifty feature that restores energy to me. Being an Ultimate-focused player, this setup could save me from constantly searching for an Energy Regeneration Link Rope.

Best Light Cones for Saber in HSR:

  • A Thankless Coronation (5-Star)
  • Thus Burns the Dawn (5-Star)
  • Brighter Than the Sun (5-Star)
  • On the Fall of an Aeon (5-Star)
  • Something Irreplaceable (5-Star)
  • A Trail of Bygone Blood (4-Star)
  • Under the Blue Sky (4-Star)
  • Nowhere to Run (4-Star)

Honkai: Star Rail – Saber: best Relics

Saber desires the stats any classic damage dealer wants: CRIT DMG, CRIT Rate, ATK, and SPD.

She has a substantial Energy Restoration ability built into her equipment, and her Light Cone aids in this too. This means you might not necessarily need high Energy Regeneration as a key stat on your Link Rope. Given that she’s a primary damage dealer (Main DPS) designed to function as a hypercarry, it could be advantageous for her to have teammates who can replenish her Energy.

Best Relic Sets for Saber in HSR:

  • Wavestrider Captain (4) – +16% CRIT DMG, +1 stack of Help (up to two 2 stacks) when the wearer is targeted by an ally’s ability; when the wearer uses their Ultimate and has 2 stacks of Help, they consume all stacks of Help to gain +48% ATK for 1 turn.
  • Scholar Lost in Erudition (4) – +8% CRIT Rate, +20% Skill and Ultimate DMG, +25% Skill DMG after Ultimate use.

Best Planar Ornaments for Saber in HSR:

  • Rutilant Arena (2) – +8% CRIT Rate, +20% Basic Attack and Skill DMG when the wearer’s CRIT Rate is 70% or higher.

Best stats for Saber in HSR:

  • Head – HP (Primary), CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK %, SPD
  • Hands – ATK (Primary), CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK %, SPD
  • Body – CRIT DMG or CRIT Rate (Primary), CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG, ATK %, SPD, ATK
  • Feet – SPD (Primary), CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK %, ATK
  • Planar Sphere – Wind DMG (Primary), CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK %, SPD
  • Link Rope – ATK % (Primary), CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, SPD, ATK

Honkai: Star Rail – Saber: best teams

On the battlefield, Saber truly shines as the main attraction. Her insatiable Energy demand and the colossal destructive power of her Ultimate make her an exceptional choice for a hypercarry. Therefore, it’s wise to provide her with all the support possible.

  • Saber (Main DPS), Sunday (Support), Tribbie (Support), Huohuo (Support)

On Sundays, Saber can swiftly execute her actions, amplify her attack power, and recharge her energy – all at once, like releasing three Charmony Doves with a single throw. Tribbie enhances the resistance penetration of the entire team, significantly boosting their damage potential, although she’s unable to affect Saber directly with her abilities (since her Skill focuses on herself and her Ultimate is an attack), which makes her somewhat tricky to combine with Wavestrider Captain or Ruan Mei. Huohuo serves as the ideal healer for Saber, offering both an attack boost and energy recharge during each round at the Roundtable.

Other Harmony characters bring their own unique strengths to the table: Bronya is a great pick due to her offensive advantages and ability to take immediate turns, similar qualities can be found in Sparkle and Robin. Saber pairs exceptionally with 4-Star Support characters; Tingyun is an outstanding choice here, while Hanya and Asta are quite resilient.

As a passionate fan, if I find myself unable to bring any of the mentioned supports into my team, I’d suggest introducing debuffers such as Cipher, Silver Wolf, or Pela. In this scenario, it might be more effective to replace Wavestrider Captain with Scholar Lost in Erudition, as it could prove challenging to activate the set consistently otherwise.

Honkai: Star Rail – Saber: ascension materials

To help Saber reach the highest level and enhance all her Traces, here’s a breakdown of what you should be aware of:

1. Level up Saber: Follow the usual process for leveling up, focusing on grinding battles or completing quests to earn experience points (XP).

2. Upgrade Saber’s Traces: To upgrade Saber’s Traces, collect Trace Materials and use them in the appropriate menus. You may need to farm specific materials or purchase them from vendors depending on their availability.

To reach level 80 with Saber, besides accumulating the required experience points (XP), you’ll also need these ascent materials:

  • Credits x308,000
  • Thief’s Instinct x15
  • Usurper’s Scheme x15
  • Conqueror’s Will x15
  • A Glass of the Besotted Era x65

On Herta Space Station and the Simulated Universe, you’ll find enemies from Antimatter Legion where you can acquire Thief’s Instinct, Usurper’s Scheme, and Conqueror’s Will. Additionally, these items can be traded or crafted on the Astral Express using the Omni-Synthesizer. Notably, Thief’s Instinct is a resource that can be consistently farmed through Daily Assignments to your characters, providing a regular supply of this material.

In simpler terms, a drink from the Prohibition era can be either accidentally knocked over at the Pennywhistle Grand Theater or acquired through trade. The most reliable way to earn credits is by discovering Golden Calyxes, which are treasure buds scattered throughout the universe.

Saber requires the following materials to upgrade her combat abilities and Traces:

  • Credits x3,000,000
  • Thief’s Instinct x41
  • Usurper’s Scheme x56
  • Conqueror’s Will x58
  • Borisin Teeth x18
  • Lupitoxin Sawteeth x69
  • Moon Rage Fang x139
  • Destroyer’s Final Road x12
  • Tracks of Destiny x8

To find Borisin Teeth, Lupitoxin Sawteeth, and Moon Rage Fang, look up in the previous section as they’re all obtainable from Crimson Calyx (Scalegorge Waterscape). Remember, you can craft higher-tier materials by processing lower-tier ones on the Omni-Synthesizer within the Astral Express.

The Destroyer’s Last Journey is exclusively acquired from the Echo of War’s (Supply Zone) domain, whereas Paths of Fate can be gained during limited-time events, the Embers Swap, the Nameless Glory, or as a Simulated Realm Points Bonus.
