In the throes of fandom, I found myself captivated by the opening scene – me, a diehard fan – where our protagonist, Uka Ishimori, stepped foot into her brand-new school. Little did she know, she was about to bear witness to an intriguing confrontation between Kai Miura and some rowdy bullies, who were mercilessly teasing him over his unique lemon-colored tresses. With a touch of wit that only Kai possesses, he diffused the situation by unleashing a squirt of lemon soda, unfortunately leaving poor Uka’s uniform drenched in the tangy beverage.
Despite Ayumi’s efforts to intervene, Uka stepped away, feeling overwhelmed. A memory surfaced of her being bullied in middle school, which prompted her to work on her social abilities. Over the course of the morning, Uka began to connect with Kai’s circle of friends, finding newfound confidence. With Kai’s support, she eventually faced her former tormentors.
In the second episode of Honey Lemon Soda, we delve into Uka joining forces with Kai’s crew following her brave stand against her tormentors. During a gym session, Ayumi will toss a basketball to Uka, who will astound everyone with an exceptional basket.
After that, Kai plans to lend a hand to Uka in enhancing her abilities, which would result in training sessions. Simultaneously, a peek of Kai’s dad outside the practice room might indicate an upcoming scene delving into Kai’s past, implying that his character could be more deeply examined in future episodes.
