‘Home Improvement’ Star Arrested Again – Sixth Arrest in Just Five Years

Zachery Ty Bryan, who played Brad Taylor on the popular 1990s show Home Improvement, was arrested in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday. According to PEOPLE magazine, the arrest was related to a possible violation of his probation from a previous domestic violence case.

I’m reporting that Bryan, 44, has been arrested, along with his fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright. She’s facing some serious charges – a DUI, plus three counts of recklessly putting others in danger, and even an attempted first-degree assault. I’m getting this information from official jail records, as reported by PEOPLE magazine.

This arrest is Bryan’s sixth in the last five years. He’s faced several legal issues recently, including multiple drunk driving arrests this year, domestic violence charges in South Carolina from January, and a past criminal record.

In 2023, he admitted guilt to a charge of domestic violence assault and received a seven-day jail sentence, along with three years of supervised probation, according to KEZI News. His probation is scheduled to end in October 2026.

Beyond accusations of violence, Bryan has also been involved in legal trouble related to financial schemes. In 2023, The Hollywood Reporter reported that he allegedly ran a fake agriculture-technology startup and made about $50,000 from investors using false contracts. Additionally, a Los Angeles court ordered Bryan and his company, Lost Lane, to pay over $108,000 to an investor due to a separate scam involving a film project.

Bryan has a criminal record dating back to 2020. In October of that year, he was arrested in Lane County, Oregon, after a dispute with his girlfriend. He faced charges of felony strangulation, assault, and obstructing a police report. He eventually pleaded guilty to menacing and assault, receiving a sentence of probation and mandatory participation in a program for domestic violence offenders.

Bryan has faced several DUI arrests in recent years. Most recently, in February 2024, he was arrested in La Quinta, California, for driving under the influence. This was his fourth DUI charge.

Later in the year, he was arrested again in Oklahoma – this time for driving under the influence and without a valid driver’s license. Video from the police car showed he wouldn’t take a breathalyzer test and confessed to driving after having alcohol.

Bryan was arrested again in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in January for domestic violence. He was released the next day, and the person he harmed was later identified as Cartwright.

Bryan has been in trouble with the law many times, and the media has taken notice. He’s had a pattern of criminal behavior over the past few years.
