Nicole Kidman demonstrates her adaptability by tackling demanding characters throughout her career. After achieving acclaim for her role in the movie “Baby Girl”, she will portray Nancy Vandergroot, a character who maintains a seemingly ideal image, in the forthcoming Prime Video suspenseful drama titled “Holland”.
The streaming service unveiled the movie trailer featuring an actress portraying a dual role as both a school teacher and a housewife, skillfully managing the demands and dynamics of her family, including her spouse and kids.
Yet, appearances can be deceiving. Behind the public persona they maintain, Vandergroot and her coworker, played by Gael Garcia Bernal, uncover a reality: their lives are not what they seem.
Additionally, details regarding Vandergroot’s spouse, played by Matthew Macfadyen, have started to emerge publicly as well.
In one scene from the trailer, Kidman can be heard stating, “Things may appear to be in perfect order,” yet beneath the facade, it feels as if we’re being tightly constricted.
In simpler terms, she continues by stating, “As a result, our lives are about to take a turn for the worse.” Prior to its release on digital platforms, the movie is set to debut at the SXSW festival next month.
Besides playing the main character, the actress is also joining the production team for the film. Other producers for this project are Kate Churchill, Peter Dealbert, and Per Saari. This film is being helmed by director Mimi Cave.
During an interview with People Magazine prior to the movie trailer launch, the director shared that the character played by Kidman in the 1995 thriller “To Die For” served as inspiration for her character in the forthcoming film.
Cave mentioned, “She has an understated comic flair for acting, and it was clear to me that she possessed such talent, even though she hadn’t played a similar role in some time.
Holland will be available to stream on Prime Video from March 27.
