As a lifestyle expert with a soft spot for heartwarming stories and a penchant for exploring different cultures, I have to say that Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! has been one of my favorite discoveries this year. Having lived in bustling Tokyo myself, I can relate to the protagonist Tsubasa’s initial struggles with adapting to rural life. However, the charming gal subculture depicted in the manga and anime series has captivated me, and I find myself rooting for Tsubasa and Minami to overcome their challenges and find happiness together.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!, the delightful manga series we’ve all come to love. MANGA Plus, the platform where it’s hosted, has announced that this heartwarming tale will conclude with two special chapters.
Kai Ikada is the creator of the captivating manga series titled “Hokkaido Gals,” which features adorable characters from Hokkaido. This manga has been available on the Shonen Jump+ app and website since 2019, and it’s also published in English by Shueisha through their MANGA Plus app and site. Additionally, an anime television series based on the manga was broadcasted from January to March 2024.
The story is based on a Tokyo teenager, Tsubasa Shiki, who moves to Japan’s northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido, in the city of Kitami. After leaving behind city life, Tsubasa finds it difficult to adapt to the countryside. In Kitami, he meets a native, Minami Fuyuki, and his life changes forever.
In addition to being classmates, Minami has a fondness for the city boy, Tsubasa. She embraces the “gal” style subculture, sporting bleached hair and donning short skirts even in winter’s chill. Minami takes Tsubasa under her care, and as he settles into his new surroundings, she catches his eye. Her outgoing personality draws him in, and they grow closer as their friendship deepens.
The anime television show, titled “Project X,” is a collaborative effort between Silver Link and Blade studios, with Misuzu Hoshino taking charge as director. Originally slated for release in 2023, the series has been pushed back due to unforeseen circumstances. Mirai Minato assumes the role of chief director, while Katsuyuki Sato lends his expertise to character design. Crunchyroll has secured the rights for this series, and episodes can also be found on It’s Anime’s YouTube Channel.
Boasting over 300,000 copies sold, “Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!” has become one of the beloved mangas. When its initial compiled volume hit shelves in December 2019, it necessitated a reprint due to overwhelming demand. As the series is set to conclude next month, fans are eagerly anticipating whether Tsubasa and Minami will end up together. Keep an eye out for further developments regarding “Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!”
