‘Shrek 2’ (2004)

I was so excited when Shrek and Fiona returned from their honeymoon and decided to visit her parents in Far Far Away! It was a bit of a shock for the King and Queen, though, finding out their daughter and her husband were both ogres. But things got really tricky when a sneaky Fairy Godmother tried to ruin their happiness so her son, Prince Charming, could marry Fiona instead. It was amazing watching Shrek team up with Donkey and Puss in Boots to save his relationship! This movie really opened up the whole Shrek world, introducing us to so many new characters and places.
‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop’ (2009)

Paul Blart, a dedicated but unassuming security guard, is very serious about his job at a New Jersey shopping mall. When a group of professional criminals takes over the mall, Paul finds himself in a tough spot. He has to rely on his familiarity with the building and his unique abilities to save the hostages and prevent the robbery. The movie is a funny story about how an often-ignored employee becomes an unexpected hero during a tense holiday crisis. Kevin James stars in this comedy, which is full of slapstick and physical humor.
‘The Grinch’ (2018)

This animated movie tells the story of a grumpy Grinch who tries to ruin Christmas for the happy people of Whoville. With his dog Max by his side, he comes up with a plan to dress like Santa and steal all the Christmas decorations. But when he meets a sweet little girl named Cindy Lou Who, he starts to question his grumpy ways. The film is a colorful, updated version of the classic Dr. Seuss story, focusing on the importance of kindness and community.
‘Shrek’ (2001)

Shrek, a grumpy ogre who enjoys his solitude, finds his quiet life turned upside down when fairytale creatures start taking over his swamp – all because of the overly ambitious Lord Farquaad. To get his swamp back, Shrek reluctantly agrees to rescue Princess Fiona from a dragon. Along the way, he’s joined by a chatty donkey who becomes an unlikely friend. As they travel, Shrek and Fiona discover they have a lot more in common than either of them thought. The movie was a huge hit for DreamWorks and playfully turned classic fairytale stories on their head.
‘Pitch Perfect’ (2012)

I’m so excited to tell you about the Barden Bellas! I watched as this freshman, Beca, joined their all-female a cappella group. They were a bit stuck in their ways, trying to figure out how to stay relevant and compete at nationals. Beca really shook things up with fresh new arrangements, and it helped them rediscover what made them special as a group. Throughout the year, they had some fierce competition from a really talented male a cappella group on campus. It’s such a fun movie, really about the power of friendship and how amazing these singers are when they come together!
‘The Bad Guys 2’ (2025)

In this animated sequel, the Bad Guys – a former criminal gang trying to go straight – are pulled back into a life of crime by a new, all-female team of professional thieves. Led by Mr. Wolf, the crew must juggle complicated heists around the world with their attempts to prove they’ve changed. The movie builds on the humor and action of the first film, raising the stakes and featuring both familiar and new voice actors.
‘Renfield’ (2023)

Renfield, Count Dracula’s devoted servant, wants to break free and start a new life in New Orleans. He joins a support group for people dealing with unhealthy relationships, hoping to find the strength to leave the vampire. But gaining independence proves difficult when a persistent police officer gets involved. Dracula won’t let Renfield go easily, and his attempts to maintain control unleash a wave of violent mayhem. This horror comedy offers a fresh and exciting take on these famous characters, complete with over-the-top action.
‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ (2000)

I absolutely love the story of the Grinch! It’s about this grumpy, green guy who lives up on Mount Crumpit and just can’t stand the Whos down in Whoville enjoying the holidays. He’s so determined to ruin Christmas that he builds a crazy sleigh and dresses up as Santa to steal all their presents and decorations. But this little girl, Cindy Lou Who, is really sweet and she tries to figure out why he’s so unhappy and hates Christmas so much. The movie is amazing – Jim Carrey does an incredible job becoming the Grinch with all the makeup and acting! It’s honestly a Christmas tradition for so many families, including mine.
‘The Croods: A New Age’ (2020)

The Croods, a prehistoric family, are on the hunt for a secure new home when they stumble upon a protected paradise. There, they meet the Betterman family, who believe they’re more advanced and live in a modern, farmed environment. Differences in how each family lives and raises their children quickly create conflict. But when a new danger appears, the two families must join forces to ensure their survival. This movie, a continuation of the original, is a vibrant story about coming together and adjusting to change in a colorful ancient world.
‘HIM’ (2025)

A promising football player goes to a secluded training camp to learn from a famous, older quarterback. Their relationship quickly becomes unsettling as the young athlete discovers the dark side of fame and the lengths people will go to achieve greatness. The film mixes the pressure of professional sports with supernatural horror, creating a suspenseful story. Marlon Wayans plays the veteran quarterback who subjects his trainee to a series of disturbing mental challenges. It’s a production from Jordan Peele and directed by Justin Tipping.
