There can be only one! Will it be Henry Cavill of the clan Cavill, or Dave Bautista?!

As a huge movie fan, I was thrilled to see some new photos and a video clip from the Highlander reboot! It’s a fresh look at Henry Cavill kicking butt, and even better, our first glimpse of Dave Bautista as the villain, Kurgan. He looks seriously intimidating, and I’m already excited to see him go head-to-head with Cavill!
The footage shows Cavill fully in character as Connor MacLeod, bloodied and battle-worn.

First Look at Bautista’s Kurgan
I was so excited to see the photos of Dave Bautista as Kurgan! It’s amazing to think he’s taking on a role made famous by Clancy Brown in the original ‘Highlander’ movie from 1986. Kurgan was such a brutal, unforgettable villain, and I can’t wait to see Bautista’s take on him.

Bautista’s character looks powerful and intimidating. He has a rough appearance with noticeable makeup, scars on his face, and a beard, creating a more realistic and serious look than the original character’s punk style.
Kurgan is MacLeod’s main enemy – a ruthless immortal who will stop at nothing, including killing, to win The Prize.

Building the New Highlander
These first photos from the set come after months of casting news, establishing Highlander as one of Amazon MGM’s biggest and most promising projects.

Henry Cavill plays MacLeod, with Russell Crowe as Ramirez, and a supporting cast including Karen Gillan, Marisa Abela, Jeremy Irons, Djimon Hounsou, Max Zhang, and Drew McIntyre, among others.
Director Chad Stahelski explains that the new film takes ideas from both the original Highlander movie and the television series, building on the story with more immortal characters, the mysterious Watchers, and a richer, more detailed world.
Release info
Filming was initially scheduled to start sooner, but it’s now expected to begin in early 2026 after Henry Cavill injured his ankle while training. Even with this setback, footage from the set shows that preparations are moving forward smoothly.
Highlander has no release date as of yet.
