As a lifestyle expert with a rich background in entertainment, I have seen the rise and fall of many stars, but none have left such a profound impact as Cameron Boyce did. Having closely followed his career, from his debut in Disney’s Jesse to his memorable role as Carlos de Vil in Descendants, it is heartwrenching to see him gone at such a young age.
The Rise of Red,” have discussed the impact of the late star Cameron Boyce on their production. This new installment, being the fourth part of the Disney musical fantasy series, Descendants, is a tribute to Cameron Boyce, who played the main character in the first three movies.
At the D23 convention, during their chat with PEOPLE, the cast of Descendants: The Rise of Red predominantly discussed the late actor Cameron Boyce. In the original three Descendants films, Cameron was a significant cast member alongside Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, and Booboo Stewart. Tragically, he passed away due to an epileptic seizure at only 20 years old.
Regarding Boyce, Joshua Colley shared that their latest film continues his legacy. Colley also expressed his admiration for Boyce’s remarkable talent, as showcased in his spellbinding portrayal of Carlos de Vil. “We aim to respect his memory and the work he did in our movie,” said Colley, “and we always strive to pay tribute to the immense talent he possessed.”
As a devoted fan, I wholeheartedly echo the sentiments shared by my fellow castmate. Peder Lindell underscored the extraordinary talent of Cameron Boyce as an actor. In fact, his performance on set raised the bar so high, it was almost unattainable for the rest of us. I can only hope that we managed to uphold the standard he set for us in our film. Indeed, Cameron’s impact will be felt and cherished by everyone involved in the project.
Dara Reneé, who played the character of Uliana in the fourth movie, also shared thoughts on the enduring impact of the late star. Reneé mentioned that Boyce’s legacy was genuinely powerful, but unfortunately, she never had the opportunity to build a personal connection with him. However, she added that she had heard nothing but good things about him from others in the industry, which is quite uncommon.
Previously, Renée acknowledged that the success of Descendants: The Rise of Red wouldn’t have been achievable without his significant contributions to the earlier installments in the franchise. She emphasized that it was essential to acknowledge his hard work, as they couldn’t have continued the storyline without him.
Ruby Rose Turner, who portrayed the young Queen of Hearts in the film, expressed that Boyce’s contributions aren’t just beneficial for the Descendants series but also the entire entertainment industry at large. She continued by saying, “Whatever he might be doing right now would undoubtedly be astonishing and captivating. I wish he were here so we could all witness his greatness.”
Instead of Morgan Dudley, we could say: Morgan Dudley spoke differently about the late actor. He expressed, “When I saw him on screen, even though I didn’t personally know him, I feel like his energy is palpable – it’s evident in how vibrant and extraordinary he was on-screen. His unique spirit, I believe, will continue to endure.” Dudley also attributed the uniqueness of the franchise to Boyce’s energy.
It appears that the latest crop of actors has done an impressive job carrying on from their predecessors’ performances. Additionally, their heartfelt tributes to Cameron Boyce demonstrate the strong influence he had and the lasting impact he left behind. “Descendants: The Rise of Red” premiered on July 12, 2024, and can now be streamed on Disney+.
