The next Avengers movie, currently titled “Avengers: Doomsday,” will be the fifth team-up film and the thirty-ninth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anthony and Joe Russo are directing, with a screenplay by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.
The film boasts a huge cast, including stars like Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, and Robert Downey Jr., among many others. The story brings together Earth’s heroes – the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and original X-Men – to battle the villain Doctor Doom, who is portrayed by Downey Jr.
The movie experienced a lot of revisions during its production. Initially intended to finish Phase Six of the film series, it went through director and cast changes. The Russo brothers eventually returned to direct, and Robert Downey Jr. was cast as Doctor Doom, leading to a new title: “Doomsday.” Filming took place from April to September, starting at Pinewood Studios in England and also including locations in Bahrain.
The next two big Marvel movies, “Avengers: Doomsday,” coming out December 18, 2026, and “Secret Wars” on December 17, 2027, will continue the story after the events of “Thunderbolts.” The new films will feature several superhero teams joining forces to face a worldwide danger.
