Here’s How to Hear THE VAMPIRE LESTAT’s Music in TALAMASCA

Let’s talk about the music from The Vampire Lestat! It’s rare for a book or show to create music that’s genuinely amazing, but this soundtrack really delivers. Even with just a few songs released so far, it’s clear this album is going to be incredible. We don’t have a release date yet, but that’s alright – we’re happy to listen to what we have on repeat. And in case you forgot, Lestat and his music have also appeared in the current series, Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order. Want to know how to hear his music within Talamasca, and which songs are featured? We’ll explain everything.

You Can Hear The Vampire Lestat’s Music in Talamasca: The Secret Order, Episode 5, “The Puzzle Place”

Before Talamasca even premiered, co-showrunner Mark Lafferty hinted that a very attentive listener in episode five might catch a connection to another show playing in a bar – and that someone involved with Talamasca might even receive a royalty check as a result. This turned out to be true: Sam Reid will receive royalties because a song by The Vampire Lestat, called “Long Face,” is featured in episode five.

When and Where Does The Vampire Lestat’s Music Appear in Talamasca?

Episode five of Talamasca features a lot of music, so it can be tricky to pinpoint exactly when Lestat’s music starts. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! If you’re watching without commercial breaks, his music begins at 35 minutes and 24 seconds into the episode. If there are commercials, it should start right after the break around that same time.

Right after the scene with Guy and Doris playing Sorry!, the camera focuses on Helen. We first see a wide shot of the pub, and then Helen walks in, heading down a hallway to the bathroom. That’s where she gets a gun. As she’s walking through the pub – it’s so tense! – Lestat is all over her, practically cooing around her. It’s a really unsettling moment.

What Lestat Song Plays in Talamasca? Do We Hear Any New Lestat Music in Talamasca?

Unfortunately, the new season of Talamasca doesn’t feature any previously unreleased music from Lestat. However, fans will be pleased to hear his classic songs throughout the show. In episode five, you can hear Lestat performing “Long Face.” Once you listen closely, you’ll notice the lyrics “Now we’re having fun… fun” playing softly in the background of a scene. (Or is it “ffffffuuuuuuuuunnnnnn. funnnnnn?”) It actually feels perfectly natural to hear Lestat on the radio in this part of the show, and we’re really enjoying it!

Which The Vampire Lestat Songs Have We Heard So Far, Overall?

As a big fan of the Talamasca soundtrack, I was excited to discover that “Long Face” is the only complete song we’ve gotten so far from The Vampire Lestat! I’ve included a link below to the lyric video so you can learn the words and sing along with me.

The extended trailer for The Vampire Lestat also features a new song, likely called “Bang, Bang.” It sounds a lot like “Long Face,” suggesting both songs are performed by the same artist. We’re excited to hear more of the music from The Vampire Lestat!

More About The Vampire Lestat’s Upcoming Music

It’s fantastic that Lestat’s music has gained such a following and is now played globally, even in intimate venues like the Talamasca pub in London. We expect even bigger things from him in the future.

When we talked to Daniel Hart, the composer for The Vampire Lestat, he explained that the music reflects Lestat’s complex and long life. He didn’t want to limit the soundtrack to a single genre, imagining that after centuries of existence, Lestat would have absorbed musical influences from every era. The score spans from classical and Romantic French music to early American jazz and ragtime, and then moves through the birth of rock and roll up to contemporary music – representing everything Lestat would have experienced firsthand. The goal was to capture the full breadth of his musical journey.

We’re excited to experience the audio version of this beloved vampire story! We especially enjoy hearing Lestat’s musical contributions in Talamasca, which highlight the interesting links between the books in the Immortal Universe series.

New episodes of Anne Rice’s Talmasca: The Secret Order come out every Sunday at 9 pm Eastern and Pacific time on AMC and AMC+. Fans can also look forward to The Vampire Lestat, which is expected to be released around 2026.
