Okay, so I just saw this really interesting movie directed by Richard Linklater. It’s a biographical dramedy about the lyricist Lorenz Hart, and Ethan Hawke absolutely nails the role. Margaret Qualley is great in it too, and Andrew Scott plays Richard Rodgers. Bobby Cannavale shows up as well. The script is by Robert Kaplow, and the music, which is fantastic, comes from Graham Reynolds – he’s worked with Linklater a bunch of times. Sandra Adair did the editing. Sony Pictures Classics released it, and it made around $585,000 over the weekend from about 689 theaters – a pretty good average of $850 per theater. It’s now made a total of $686,000 after two weeks. The whole thing runs about 100 minutes, and I definitely recommend checking it out if you’re into music biopics!
‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie – Infinity Castle’ (2025)

The latest installment, directed by Haruo Sotozaki and Ufotable, follows Tanjiro and the Hashira as they battle Muzan Kibutsuji inside the ever-changing Infinity Castle. Natsuki Hanae and Akari Kito star in the original Japanese voice cast, while Zach Aguilar leads the English dub. Released in North America by Sony and Crunchyroll, the film earned $625,000 over the weekend from 652 theaters (an average of $958 per theater). Its total earnings have reached $132,362,639 after seven weeks, distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. The film has achieved several box office records in North America.
‘Bugonia’ (2025)

Yorgos Lanthimos’s new film, starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, is a remake of a South Korean movie. The story centers around a kidnapping that takes a bizarre and darkly funny turn, as the captors believe their victim is an alien. Released by Focus Features, the film earned $690,000 from 17 theaters over the weekend – an impressive average of $40,588 per theater – matching its opening week total. This continues a successful working relationship between Lanthimos and Stone, following their previous collaborations.
‘Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie’ (2025)

DreamWorks Animation’s new film, directed by Ryan Crego, blends live-action and animation. It stars Laila Lockhart Kraner and features the voices and appearances of Kristen Wiig, Gloria Estefan, and Jason Mantzoukas. The story follows Gabby and Grandma Gigi on a road trip that takes them back to the magical world of the Dollhouse. Mike Lew, Rehana Lew Mirza, Adam Wilson, and Melanie Wilson LaBracio wrote the screenplay. The film earned $700,000 over the weekend from 1,372 theaters (an average of $510 per theater), bringing its five-week total to $31,190,690. Universal Pictures International distributed the film, and Stephanie Economou composed the music.
‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ (2025)

The latest film, directed by Michael Chaves, brings back Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren. It also stars Mia Tomlinson, Ben Hardy, and Steve Coulter. ‘Shelby Oaks’ (2025)

Chris Stuckmann wrote and directed this horror film, which centers on a woman’s search for her sister, a search that leads her to a mysterious, disappeared group of paranormal investigators. The film stars Camille Sullivan, Brendan Sexton III, and Keith David. Paper Street Pictures and Intrepid Pictures produced the movie, with a score by James Burkholder and The Newton Brothers. It opened to $2,350,000 over the weekend in 1,830 theaters (an average of $1,284 per theater), bringing its total earnings to $2,350,000 after one week. Neon distributed the film, which has a runtime of 91 minutes.
‘Good Fortune’ (2025)

This comedy, written and directed by Aziz Ansari, features a hilarious cast including Seth Rogen, Aziz Ansari, Keke Palmer, Sandra Oh, and Keanu Reeves as an angel who accidentally causes a gig worker and his venture capital boss to switch bodies. The film was produced by Garam Films, Oh Brudder Productions, Keep Your Head, and Yang Pictures, and the score was composed by Carter Burwell. It earned $3.1 million over the weekend from nearly 3,000 theaters (an average of $1,036 per theater) and has now grossed $11.8 million after two weeks. Lionsgate distributed the 97-minute film.
‘Tron: Ares’ (2025)

I just saw the new sci-fi movie directed by Joachim Rønning, and it’s really something! It stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Gillian Anderson, and even Jeff Bridges. The plot centers around this program called Ares that somehow breaks out into the real world. And the music? It’s by Nine Inch Nails, which is awesome! It opened on October 10th in all the best formats like IMAX and Dolby Cinema. It made $4.9 million this weekend from almost 2,940 theaters – averaging $1,666 per theater – and has now earned a total of $63.3 million after three weeks. Walt Disney Pictures produced it, and Disney Studios is distributing it, so you know it’s a quality production.
‘Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere’ (2025)

Scott Cooper wrote and directed this biographical drama, which stars Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen while he was creating the album ‘Nebraska.’ Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, and Odessa Young also appear in the film. Masanobu Takayanagi handled the cinematography, Pamela Martin edited the film, and Jeremiah Fraites composed the music. ‘Black Phone 2’ (2025)

The anime film, directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara and written by Hiroshi Seko, continues the story of Denji, whose life is disrupted by a mysterious woman named Reze as conflicts with devils intensify. Kikunosuke Toya and Reina Ueda provide the Japanese voice acting. Kensuke Ushio composed the music, and Crunchyroll, through Sony Pictures Releasing, handled international distribution. The film earned $17.25 million during its opening weekend from 3,003 theaters (an average of $5,744 per theater), bringing its total to $17.25 million after one week. Sony Pictures Releasing is the distributor. It initially premiered in Japan on September 19th before becoming available worldwide.
