Wow, there’s so much great TV on right now! Whether you’re into sci-fi that’s been around forever or brand new legal dramas, there’s something for everyone. I’m really seeing a trend towards shows with a lot at stake and characters you can really get invested in – and it’s happening on all the networks and streaming services. I’ve been keeping track of what everyone’s talking about, and here are the shows that are really making a splash right now.
‘The Family Man’ (2019– )

Srikant Tiwari is a senior analyst for India’s National Investigation Agency, working in a unit that deals with serious threats. He leads a double life, juggling the intense pressure of his secretive job with the everyday challenges of family life in Mumbai. The show follows Srikant as he tackles national security crises, all while trying to shield his wife and children from the dangers his work brings – and keeping his job a secret from them. It’s a mix of thrilling action, relatable family drama, and a touch of wit.
‘One-Punch Man’ (2015– )

Saitama is a seemingly ordinary superhero with an incredible ability: he can defeat anyone with just one punch. But this immense power leaves him feeling empty and bored, as he struggles to find an opponent who can actually challenge him. He wanders a world full of strange monsters and fellow heroes, all while searching for a truly exciting battle. The anime playfully mocks typical superhero stories with its unusual main character and dry, humorous style.
‘Tulsa King’ (2022– )

After spending twenty-five years in prison, New York mafia boss Dwight Manfredi is unexpectedly sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and told to start over. He’s forced to build a new criminal organization from the ground up, relying on a surprising group of local recruits. The show follows Dwight as he adapts his traditional mafia methods to the challenges of the modern Midwest, dealing with local laws, competing groups, and trying to rebuild relationships with his family while asserting his power.
‘Breaking Bad’ (2008–2013)

Let me tell you, “Breaking Bad” really grabbed me. It’s the story of Walter White, a seemingly ordinary high school chemistry teacher whose life gets turned upside down when he’s diagnosed with cancer. Desperate to provide for his family, he makes a shocking decision: he starts cooking meth. And I mean really good meth, with the help of a former student, Jesse Pinkman. What’s fascinating is watching Walter, this quiet, unassuming guy, slowly morph into Heisenberg, a cold and calculating drug lord. It’s a dark and gripping show, and it doesn’t shy away from showing the devastating impact his choices have on everyone around him – his family, his friendships, everything. It’s a tough watch at times, but incredibly compelling.
‘Game of Thrones’ (2011–2019)

In the realm of Westeros, nine powerful families are locked in a fierce struggle for the throne. Meanwhile, a long-forgotten enemy is rising again after millennia. The story follows numerous interconnected plots filled with political scheming and a bloody civil war. Characters must survive in a harsh world where loyalties change constantly, and magic – including dragons and the reanimated dead – is very real. It’s a tale about the ruthless pursuit of power and how far people will go to rule a broken land.
‘Absentia’ (2017–2020)

FBI agent Emily Byrne vanishes while pursuing a dangerous serial killer in Boston. Presumed dead, she unexpectedly reappears six years later, with no recollection of what happened to her. Returning home, she finds her husband has remarried and is raising their son with another woman. As Emily tries to piece together her lost memories, she becomes a suspect in a new string of murders, forcing her to confront the secrets of her past.
‘My Hero Academia’ (2016– )

In a world where most people are born with superpowers, Izuku Midoriya is different – he’s born without any. But after inheriting the power of the legendary hero All Might, he gets a chance to fulfill his dream of becoming a hero and attends a renowned high school for aspiring heroes. The story follows Izuku and his friends as they train to master their powers and battle against a dangerous group of villains. Throughout the series, it explores what it truly means to be a hero and the impact of those who came before.
‘All Her Fault’ (2025)

Marissa Irvine goes to pick up her son from a playdate and is shocked to find a stranger at the house – and her son is gone. This kicks off a frantic search that reveals shocking secrets within her seemingly perfect neighborhood. As the investigation unfolds, suspicion falls on everyone around her, and a tangled web of lies begins to unravel, threatening to ruin the lives of all involved.
‘Landman’ (2024– )

The series takes place in the rapidly growing oil towns of West Texas, following the lives of oil workers and incredibly wealthy entrepreneurs. It centers on a company executive who tries to control the unpredictable and risky business of oil drilling, all while battling internal company power struggles. The show explores the damaging effects on both the environment and people as companies chase energy and profits. The characters must deal with the pressures of an industry that has global and local consequences.
‘A Man on the Inside’ (2024– )

I recently stumbled upon this fantastic series about a retired professor who decides to become a private investigator – but his office is a San Francisco retirement home! He takes a case involving a stolen heirloom, and what starts as a simple mystery quickly reveals this incredible, lively community of seniors who are really making the most of their golden years. It’s a really clever blend of mystery and humor, and it’s touching to watch him adjust to this new chapter, especially as he reconnects with his daughter. Honestly, it’s a really heartwarming story about aging, finding meaning at any stage of life, and proving it’s never too late to start something new.
‘Heated Rivalry’ (2025– )

This series follows two highly skilled hockey players who become rivals on the ice. Over several years, their competitive animosity hides a growing personal connection, kept secret from the public and the media. It explores the challenges of professional sports and the difficulties of having a romantic relationship under intense pressure and public scrutiny. They struggle to balance the demands of their teams, their fans, and their undeniable attraction to each other.
‘IT: Welcome to Derry’ (2025– )

This series tells the story of how Pennywise, the shape-shifting monster, first began terrorizing the town of Derry. Set years before the well-known movies, it shows how the town became cursed and why people started disappearing. As a group of ordinary people investigate, they discover a horrifying secret hidden beneath the surface. The story adds depth to the mythology of the horror series, explaining how fear has haunted Derry for generations.
‘The Beast in Me’ (2025)

An author, still heartbroken after the loss of her son, lives a secluded life until a new neighbor moves in. She becomes convinced he’s a dangerous criminal who has been hiding from the law for years. The story follows her increasingly intense obsession as she risks everything to investigate, and in doing so, is forced to face her own painful past and question her own grip on reality.
‘Pluribus’ (2025– )

This compelling drama offers a fresh and surprising look at what it means to be human. It follows a varied group of characters as they live in a world subtly different from ours, facing difficult choices and changes that force them to question how they connect with others and understand themselves. The show cleverly uses its unusual setting to explore how people respond when everything they know is turned upside down.
‘Stranger Things’ (2016–2025)

The people of Hawkins are facing their most dangerous crisis yet, as the terrifying world of the Upside Down threatens to destroy everything. Eleven and her friends must join forces for a final showdown against the formidable Vecna, hoping to close the gates to this other dimension for good. This last season delivers an epic and emotional ending to the supernatural mystery, filled with intense challenges and heartbreaking farewells as the characters struggle to save their town and each other from complete annihilation.
