This week’s most-watched series cover a lot of ground, including intense crime stories, large-scale fantasy adventures, classic sci-fi, and gripping medical dramas. Several shows planned for 2025 and 2026 are already creating a lot of excitement, and established hits are still performing well thanks to streaming. These are the shows people around the world are most interested in watching right now.
‘Breaking Bad’ (2008–2013)

Bryan Cranston plays Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who starts making methamphetamine after being diagnosed with lung cancer. He teams up with a former student, Jesse Pinkman, and they enter the dangerous world of crime in Albuquerque to ensure his family is financially secure. The show follows Walter’s transformation from a caring father and husband into a cold and powerful drug lord. ‘Breaking Bad’ is celebrated as one of the best TV shows ever made, known for its complex storylines and well-developed characters.
‘Pluribus’ (2025)

Rhea Seehorn stars in this new science fiction series, which delves into thought-provoking ideas about who we are and how society is changing. The story centers on characters dealing with a world where everything they thought they knew about social rules and personal space is turned upside down. The show’s creators worked hard to build a realistic but futuristic look using cutting-edge visual effects and filming techniques. This role represents an exciting new direction for Seehorn, known for her work in dramatic television.
‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ (2026)

Taking place 100 years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ this series centers on the journey of a young squire named Egg and his knight, Ser Duncan the Tall. Adapted from George R.R. Martin’s novellas, it delves into a different period of Westeros’s history, during the reign of the Targaryen family. Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell play the two main characters as they face both political intrigue and physical challenges throughout the Seven Kingdoms. The show aims for a more personal and adventurous feel than the epic battles seen in the original ‘Game of Thrones’.
‘Game of Thrones’ (2011–2019)

As a huge fantasy fan, I was completely hooked by ‘Game of Thrones’. It’s all about these powerful families in Westeros constantly battling each other, scheming and fighting to rule the entire kingdom – and grab the Iron Throne. It’s based on George R.R. Martin’s incredible books and has a massive cast – you get to know so many characters, like Daenerys, Jon Snow, and Cersei. While they’re all fighting amongst themselves, there’s this growing danger from way up north, something ancient and seriously scary. It really took the world by storm, and for good reason – the show looked amazing and the story was so intricate and well-done.
‘Run Away’ (2026)

This thrilling series, based on a Harlan Coben novel, centers on a father’s frantic quest to find his missing daughter. Starring Minnie Driver and Alfred Enoch, the story reveals hidden family secrets and a dangerous plot. As the father investigates, he uncovers a web of mystery and realizes his daughter’s disappearance is connected to a much bigger and more sinister threat. The show continues the popular trend of adapting Coben’s novels into gripping TV mysteries.
‘Ponies’ (2026)

Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson star as two spies working undercover in the Soviet Union during the Cold War. By day, they appear to be ordinary office workers, but secretly they’re collecting important intelligence for their country. As tensions between nations increase, they become entangled in a dangerous world of espionage, putting both their lives and their missions at risk. ‘Ponies’ combines the atmosphere of a historical drama with the excitement of a classic spy thriller.
‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ (2026)

The series follows a diverse group of new cadets as they begin their training at the United Federation of Planets’ top military academy. Guided by experienced mentors, these students must overcome their differences and prepare for the challenges of interstellar service. Starring Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, and George Hawkins, the show delves into the core values of Star Trek while charting the cadets’ academic and personal journeys as they strive to become officers leading the way in space exploration.
‘Heated Rivalry’ (2025)

This drama focuses on the intense connection between two top hockey players. Starring Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, the show follows their years-long rivalry, both on the ice and in their personal lives. It realistically portrays the physical challenges of professional hockey alongside the emotional ups and downs of their competitive relationship, blending exciting game footage with a thoughtful look at how their bond changes over time.
‘Landman’ (2024)

As a film buff, I’m really excited about ‘Landman.’ It’s a gritty drama starring Billy Bob Thornton, and it’s set in the wild world of the West Texas oil boom. The show, created by Taylor Sheridan, dives deep into the modern energy business – it’s all about the people who make it happen, from the oil field workers to the incredibly wealthy executives. What really grabs me is that it doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff – the story explores how chasing profits impacts both the environment and the lives of the people on the ground. It feels like a really honest look at the forces that are shaping the energy industry in America.
‘The Night Manager’ (2016)

Tom Hiddleston stars as Jonathan Pine, a hotel night manager drawn into the world of international espionage when he’s recruited to investigate a powerful and dangerous arms dealer. Hugh Laurie plays Richard Roper, the wealthy and elusive villain who operates beyond the reach of the law. Based on a novel by John le Carré, the series is a complex and suspenseful story of spies and blurred lines between right and wrong. It proved popular, leading to more seasons that continue the thrilling plot.
‘Fallout’ (2024)

This series is based on the popular Fallout video game franchise and takes place in Los Angeles 200 years after a nuclear war. Ella Purnell stars as Lucy, a woman who leaves the safety of her underground vault to find her father in the dangerous world above. During her journey, she meets a hardened bounty hunter called the Ghoul and a soldier from the Brotherhood of Steel. Critics have praised the show for capturing the games’ distinctive style, which mixes a vintage-future look with dark, often funny, moments.
‘The Pitt’ (2025)

Noah Wyle is back in a medical drama, this time as the star of a series about the everyday heroes working in a busy American hospital. Set in Pittsburgh, the show focuses on the difficulties faced by doctors and nurses, and the personal costs they pay while providing care. It aims for realism in its portrayal of medical procedures and the relationships between the hospital staff, with each episode showcasing the strength and emotional toll required to navigate the ever-changing world of healthcare.
‘Stranger Things’ (2016–2025)

In the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, a tight-knit group of friends uncovers a mysterious conspiracy linked to secret government research and a terrifying alternate reality. When a young girl named Eleven, who possesses incredible telekinetic abilities, enters their lives, they’re thrust into a battle against frightening creatures from another dimension called the Upside Down. With its strong 1980s vibe, and starring Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, and Winona Ryder, ‘Stranger Things’ has become a hugely popular show, blending scary moments with a relatable story about growing up.
‘His & Hers’ (2026)

This psychological thriller stars Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal and follows a murder investigation in a close-knit town. The story unfolds through the eyes of both a journalist and a detective, revealing how their individual perspectives shape their understanding of the events. As they dig deeper, they discover surprising connections between the crime and their own pasts. The series explores how we perceive truth and the lasting impact of trauma.
‘Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials’ (2026)

I’m so excited about this new series! It’s based on a classic Agatha Christie novel, and it starts with what seems like a harmless prank at a weekend house party, but things quickly turn deadly. Helena Bonham Carter and Martin Freeman are fantastic, and the story really opens up into something much bigger – international intrigue and a secret society! The main character, Bundle Brent, played by Mia McKenna-Bruce, is brilliant as she tries to unravel the mystery of the Seven Dials. It’s got all the cleverness and suspense you’d expect from an Agatha Christie story, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
