We’ve included a brief summary of each show – what it’s about and who stars in it, both in front of and behind the camera – so you can quickly find something to watch based on your current mood.

‘The Real Housewives of Potomac’ (2016)

This edition of the popular reality TV series focuses on the lives of women in Potomac, Maryland. Cameras follow their friendships, careers, involvement in charity, and important family moments. The show, created by Truly Original, is filmed in a documentary style, capturing changing relationships and developing storylines throughout each season.

Over the years, the show has included cast members like Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby, Robyn Dixon, Karen Huger, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Candiace Dillard Bassett, Wendy Osefo, and others. Executive producer Andy Cohen guides the entire series, and the final story of each episode is crafted during editing, using interviews, group outings, and key moments with the cast.

‘Found’ (2023)

‘Found’ revolves around Gabi Mosely, a skilled professional who both helps people recover and manages public relations. She heads a team focused on finding missing individuals, particularly those whose cases are often overlooked. The series, created by Nkechi Okoro Carroll, blends self-contained investigations each week with an ongoing, complex story that challenges how the team operates.

Shanola Hampton leads the cast as Gabi, supported by Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Kelli Williams, Brett Dalton, Gabrielle Walsh, Arlen Escarpeta, and Karan Oberoi. The series is a production of Berlanti Productions, Rock My Soul Productions, Universal Television, and Warner Bros. Television, and the music is composed by Sherri Chung.

‘Reggaeton: The Sound that Conquered the World’ (2024)

As a huge fan of reggaeton, I was completely hooked by this four-part docuseries! It really shows you how the genre went from being a local thing to taking over the world. It dives into what inspired the very first reggaeton artists, those key moments when it started crossing over into the mainstream, and all the struggles within the music industry along the way. Director Omar Acosta did an amazing job weaving together old footage with performances and studio recordings from today’s biggest stars – it’s awesome to see how the pioneers influenced the current chart-toppers.

The interviews feature artists and producers who were key to the development of this musical movement, tracing how rhythms originating in Panama, Puerto Rico, and throughout the Latin diaspora ultimately created a global sound. This series is a production of Mercury Studios, in collaboration with Saboteur Media and El Cartel, and includes perspectives from record label executives, DJs, and experts in cultural history to explain the music’s widespread influence.

‘The Real Housewives of New York City’ (2008)

As a huge fan, I’ve always loved how ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’ gives us a peek into the lives of these women, both at work and when they’re socializing all over the city. What’s so great is how the show uses those confessionals and a really real, vérité-style filming approach to capture everything – the strong friendships, exciting new business launches, and, let’s be real, the occasional dramatic table-flipping moment! Lately, the show has really focused on things like fashion, what’s happening in the media, and all the amazing things these women are building as entrepreneurs.

The show’s recent seasons have included cast members like Jenna Lyons, Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, and Brynn Whitfield, in addition to returning favorites from previous seasons. Andy Cohen, the executive producer, guides the entire series, and Shed Media handles production, managing shoots with multiple cameras throughout Manhattan and the surrounding areas.

‘Chicago Med’ (2015)

‘Chicago Med’ is set in the busy Gaffney Chicago Medical Center and focuses on the challenges faced by doctors, nurses, and other staff as they deal with urgent medical situations, difficult cases, and tough ethical decisions in the emergency room and throughout the hospital. The show often connects with its companion series, ‘Chicago Fire’ and ‘Chicago P.D.’, to present medical cases that involve the entire network of first responders across the city.

The show features familiar faces like S. Epatha Merkerson, who plays hospital administrator Sharon Goodwin, and Oliver Platt as psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Charles. The medical team also includes actors Jessy Schram, Luke Mitchell, Steven Weber, and Sarah Ramos. Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead created the series, which is now overseen by showrunners Andrew Schneider and Diane Frolov, all under the Universal Television label. It’s a long-running procedural drama.

Chicago P.D.’ (2014)

‘Chicago P.D.’ follows the detectives of the 21st District’s Intelligence Unit as they investigate serious crimes like organized crime and drug trafficking, all led by Sgt. Hank Voight. The show explores cases that start with tips from people on the street and grow into large-scale investigations involving multiple agencies, often with high stakes for everyone involved and citywide consequences.

The cast features Jason Beghe, Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, LaRoyce Hawkins, Tracy Spiridakos, and Amy Morton. The show was developed by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, and has seen several showrunners, including Rick Eid and Gwen Sigan. The distinctive score, composed by Atli Örvarsson, complements the show’s episodic, case-of-the-week format.

‘Chicago Fire’ (2012)

‘Chicago Fire’ follows the firefighters of Firehouse 51-including Engine 51, Truck 81, Squad 3, and Ambulance 61-as they tackle fires, perform rescues, and handle hazardous materials incidents. The show also explores their personal lives and relationships within the firehouse. Storylines weave together the station’s history, friendly competition between teams, and large-scale emergencies that frequently link to events in other shows within the ‘Chicago’ franchise.

As a big fan, I’ve always loved the amazing cast of this show, including Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, Eamonn Walker, Kara Killmer, David Eigenberg, Joe Miñoso, Christian Stolte, Miranda Rae Mayo, and Daniel Kyri. It was created by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, and Dick Wolf is one of the executive producers. It’s produced with Universal Television and they film everything at Cinespace Chicago Film Studios – it’s a really impressive setup!

‘Epic Ride: The Story of Universal Theme Parks’ (2025)

This three-part docuseries takes a look at the history of Universal’s theme parks, starting with the very first Studio Tour and going all the way to today’s incredibly detailed and immersive lands. It features unseen design materials and conversations with the people who created these parks. Each episode breaks down how attractions are made – from the initial ideas and sketches, through planning and building, to making sure guests have a great experience.

John Marks and Jon Strong are the executive producers. The production also features contributions from filmmakers and cast members involved with the park’s various themed lands. It showcases how the park runs, including live entertainment and the technology behind things like animatronics, projection-mapping, and thrilling stunt shows.

‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ (1999–)

‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ is set in the 16th Precinct of the NYPD. The show follows detectives as they investigate difficult and sensitive crimes – covering everything from the initial response and gathering forensic evidence to the final decision on charges, and often working with prosecutors. The cases presented are a mix of self-contained investigations and ongoing storylines that show how the unit’s leaders and working relationships develop over time.

Mariska Hargitay stars as Captain Olivia Benson, and Ice-T and Peter Scanavino have been important cast members in recent years. The show was created by Dick Wolf and is produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television. Several people have led the show as showrunners, including David Graziano, while experienced producers have ensured a consistent storyline, especially during episodes that cross over with other series.

‘Law & Order’ (1990–)

‘Law & Order’ created the format that would become the hallmark of the series-a police investigation immediately followed by the legal case in court-meaning each episode presented a fully resolved story. The show’s storylines are inspired by current events and tricky legal issues, and follow detectives as they work with assistant district attorneys to handle search warrants, legal requests, and plea bargains.

The current cast features Tony Goldwyn as District Attorney Nicholas Baxter, Hugh Dancy as ADA Nolan Price, Odelya Halevi as ADA Samantha Maroun, Mehcad Brooks as Detective Jalen Shaw, Reid Scott as Detective Vincent Riley, and Camryn Manheim as Lt. Kate Dixon. The series revival is produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, and overseen by showrunner Rick Eid, who has focused on a fast-paced, case-of-the-week format.
