Looking for something new to watch? Max has a great selection of shows, from exclusive HBO originals to popular animated series and exciting international titles. Here are ten recommendations from this month’s new releases, with a brief description of each show, who created it, and when new episodes become available – so you can start watching right away without having to do any research.

‘IT: Welcome to Derry’ (2025–)

This new series acts as a backstory to the ‘It’ movies, delving into the sinister history of Derry and the origins of Pennywise. Created by Andy and Barbara Muschietti, along with Jason Fuchs, the show is run by Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane. The cast features Jovan Adepo, Taylour Paige, Chris Chalk, James Remar, and Bill Skarsgård reprising his role as Pennywise. Benjamin Wallfisch composed the music. New episodes premiere weekly on HBO and are then available to stream on Max.

‘Dangerously Obese’ (2025–)

This reality show documents the journeys of patients struggling with severe obesity as they undergo doctor-supervised weight loss programs. Viewers will see a lot of Dr. Charles Procter, a bariatric surgeon, as the series follows patients through assessments, changes to their daily routines, and possible surgeries. Each episode combines personal stories with medical appointments and checks on their progress over time. New episodes are now available on Max.

‘Expedition X’ (2020– )

This paranormal adventure show, part of the ‘Expedition Unknown’ world, follows Phil Torres and Jessica Chobot as they explore mysterious events worldwide. Each episode combines nighttime investigations at haunted locations, interviews with people who know the local stories, and scientific analysis to determine if the claims of everything from strange creatures to ghosts are true. The show is made like a documentary but with a strong focus on investigation, and features the same team working on it each season. Recent episodes are now available on Max.

‘Holmes Family Rescue’ (2022– )

Mike Holmes, along with his son Mike Holmes Jr. and daughter Sherry, helps homeowners fix dangerous and poorly done renovations. Each episode tackles problems with a home’s structure, electrical system, and design, often with the help of trusted contractors. The show focuses on building things correctly and following safety codes. You can now watch the latest episodes on Max.

Teen Titans Go!’ (2013– )

This funny, fast-moving animated series shows what Robin, Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, and Beast Boy do when they’re not saving the world. Each episode is about 11 minutes long and packed with jokes. The voice actors include Scott Menville, Hynden Walch, Tara Strong, Khary Payton, and Greg Cipes. The show is known for its clever humor and references to DC Comics lore, and it often includes special guest appearances. You can now watch the latest episodes on Max.

‘Haha, You Clowns’ (2025– )

Okay, so I just started watching this new show on Max, and it’s really good. It’s about a dad who lost his wife and is trying to raise his three teenage sons. It’s not super heavy, though – it’s a really nice blend of funny and heartfelt moments. Each son is going through his own stuff as he grows up, and the show really focuses on those everyday family moments – the little victories and struggles. It’s just a really warm, relatable show about family life, and the newest episodes just dropped.

‘Who Saw the Peacock Dance in the Jungle?’ (2025)

Based on the manga by Rito Asami, this Japanese series centers on Komugi, who begins investigating a complex plot after her former police officer father is murdered on Christmas Eve. Starring Suzu Hirose, Kenichi Matsuyama, and Win Morisaki, the 10-episode show recently aired in Japan and is now available on Max. Each episode unfolds like a chapter in a larger investigation, ultimately revealing secrets within the media world.

‘Vivant’ (2023)

This 10-episode thriller from TBS follows Yūsuke Nogi, an ordinary office worker who stumbles into a dangerous international conspiracy after discovering a strange financial irregularity. The series stars Hiroshi Abe, Fumi Nikaido, Tori Matsuzaka, Koji Yakusho, and Kazunari Ninomiya, and is narrated by Megumi Hayashibara. Katsuo Fukuzawa directed most of the episodes, with additional direction from Yōhei Miyazaki and Akiko Kato. Now streaming on Max, it’s perfect for a weekend binge.

‘The Thaw’ (2022)

‘Odwilż’ (The Thaw) is a Polish crime drama centered around detective Katarzyna Zawieja. When a suspicious death and a missing baby occur in Szczecin, she begins a complex investigation. The series stars Katarzyna Wajda, Bartłomiej Kotschedoff, and Cezary Łukaszewicz. Created by Marta Szymanek and directed by Xawery Żuławski, with a score by Łukasz Targosz, it originally premiered on HBO Europe and is now available to stream on Max. Each episode reveals more of the intricately woven case.

‘The Chair Company’ (2025– )

Created by Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, this quirky HBO comedy follows William Ronald Trosper (Robinson) after an embarrassing moment at work leads to a much bigger corporate mystery. The show features Lake Bell, Sophia Lillis, Will Price, Joseph Tudisco, and Lou Diamond Phillips, and is directed by Andrew DeYoung and Aaron Schimberg. All eight episodes are available on HBO and streaming on Max, making it a great new comedy to check out.
