Here Are the Best Movies to Stream this Weekend on Peacock, Including Rumpelstiltskin’s Animated Mayhem

As a movie buff, I’ve been checking out what’s new on Peacock, and they’re really building up a solid library! This weekend, I found a great mix of everything – recent blockbusters, scary sequels for those of us who like a good fright, and some really comforting animated classics. Whether you’re in the mood for something action-packed and thought-provoking, or a fun movie night with the family, Peacock has you covered. They’re adding new stuff all the time, and these recent releases are definitely some of the highlights worth checking out.

‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ (2023)

This animated movie is based on the popular Nintendo game, Mario. It tells the story of Mario’s journey through the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue his brother, Luigi. He teams up with Princess Peach and Toad to defeat Bowser, who is trying to take over multiple kingdoms. The film is visually colorful and includes lots of nods to the classic video game. After a successful run in theaters, it became available to stream on Peacock in early February 2026.

‘Speak No Evil’ (2024)

This suspenseful thriller is a remake of a Danish movie, centering on an American family who accept a weekend invitation to a secluded countryside home. What starts as a relaxing getaway with a friendly British couple quickly turns into a frightening experience filled with manipulation and growing fear. The film examines how far people will go to maintain politeness and what happens when you ignore your gut feelings in awkward or unsettling circumstances. It premiered on Peacock on February 6, 2026.

‘Black Phone 2’ (2025)

This movie is a direct continuation of the popular 2021 horror film, picking up where the story left off with its unsettling supernatural themes. It revisits the creepy setting of the first movie, but also introduces fresh dangers and reveals more about the masked villain. After a successful run in theaters, it became available to stream in January 2026. The filmmakers who made the first movie returned to ensure this sequel had the same suspenseful feel.

‘Shrek 2’ (2004)

Shrek and Princess Fiona visit Fiona’s parents, King Harold and Queen Lillian, in the kingdom of Far Far Away. The King isn’t happy his daughter chose an ogre, and secretly works with a Fairy Godmother to try and change things. Along the way, we meet beloved characters like Puss in Boots, and the movie playfully spoofs classic fairy tales and popular culture. It’s still a popular choice for viewers of all ages on Peacock.

‘Despicable Me 2’ (2013)

Okay, so Gru’s hung up his villainous ways and is now a dad to those adorable girls – Margo, Edith, and Agnes. But just when he thinks he’s settled into family life, the Anti-Villain League comes calling. They need his help to catch a new bad guy, and he’s partnered with this super quirky agent, Lucy Wilde. The movie follows their investigation into a hidden lab, and it’s fun watching Gru balance being a dad, trying to solve the mystery, and… well, maybe finding a little romance along the way. And let me tell you, the Minions are everywhere – this movie really cemented them as the breakout stars of the whole franchise!

‘Despicable Me’ (2010)

The first Despicable Me movie introduces us to Gru, a super-villain with an outlandish plan: stealing the moon! He adopts three orphan girls thinking they’ll help him with the heist and distract his rival, Vector. But Gru unexpectedly grows to love the girls, and his priorities change from being a villain to becoming a father figure. The film was a huge success and kicked off a popular franchise, becoming known for Illumination Entertainment’s unique style of comedy.

‘Shrek Forever After’ (2010)

Shrek, stressed by his family commitments, makes a bargain with the mischievous Rumpelstiltskin to relive his simpler days. This leads to a bizarre alternate timeline where he doesn’t exist, Fiona leads a rebellion, and Donkey doesn’t recognize him. Shrek has until the end of the day to break the deal and save everything he cares about. This movie was promoted as the last in the main Shrek series.

‘The Hunger Games’ (2012)

In a bleak future country called Panem, Katniss Everdeen bravely takes her sister’s place in the Hunger Games – a televised battle where contestants fight to the death. Along with fellow competitor Peeta Mellark, she must survive a dangerous wilderness arena while also contending with the power struggles of the ruling Capitol. The story powerfully illustrates the gap between the wealthy and the struggling, impoverished people of the districts. All of the original Hunger Games movies became available to stream on Peacock again in early 2026.

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ (2013)

After winning the Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta are sent on a tour of the districts, where they discover increasing dissatisfaction and signs of a brewing rebellion. In response, President Snow announces a special, even more dangerous edition of the Games – the Quarter Quell – which will force past winners to compete again. This unexpected turn raises the stakes dramatically, turning Katniss into a beacon of hope for those suffering under the Capitol’s rule. The movie is praised for showing a larger world and developing stronger connections between the characters.

‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1’ (2014)

Okay, so after everything that happened in the arena, Katniss ends up in District 13, which is basically the secret base of the growing rebellion. Honestly, she’s hesitant, but they convince her to be the ‘Mockingjay’ – the public face of the revolution. A lot of this movie focuses on how the war is affecting her mentally, and it’s really interesting to see how both sides use propaganda and the media to try and win people over. It’s a bit of a setup film, really, building towards the big showdown with President Snow, but it does a fantastic job of laying the groundwork and exploring the darker side of conflict.
