‘Angel Falls: A Novel Holiday’ (2019)
Book editor Lucy heads back to her hometown to reignite a beloved holiday book festival, where she meets local author Jack. A bit of heavenly guidance helps them both with their careers and personal lives. Starring Jen Lilley and Carlo Marks, and directed by Jonathan Wright, the film captures the warmth of small-town life with cozy lighting, wintery colors, and festive music.

Starring Matt Smith, with Natalie Dormer and Stanley Tucci, the film blends the practical challenges of containing a pandemic with intense interrogations and dangerous missions into infected areas. It’s directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky, based on a script by Mike Le.
‘Don’t Breathe’ (2016)
Okay, so I just watched this movie and it was INSANE! It’s about these three guys who decide to rob a house in Detroit, but they quickly realize they’ve made a terrible mistake. The homeowner turns out to be a blind Gulf War vet, and his house isn’t normal – it’s like a complicated maze! Plus, he’s seriously tough. Stephen Lang is absolutely terrifying as the homeowner, and the actors playing the burglars – Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, and Daniel Zovatto – all have their own reasons for being there, which adds to the tension. The director, Fede Álvarez, does an amazing job building suspense – a lot of it comes from the quiet moments, how cramped everything feels, and this one scene in complete darkness that’s genuinely frightening. The story keeps throwing curveballs, so you’re never quite sure who has the upper hand. It’s a really gripping movie!
‘Furious 7’ (2015)
When Deckard Shaw comes after Dom Toretto and his family, they’re thrown into a worldwide chase connected to a powerful surveillance program called God’s Eye and a skilled hacker named Ramsey. The team travels from the mountains of the Caucasus to cities like Abu Dhabi and Los Angeles, performing daring stunts like parachuting cars and leaping from skyscrapers. James Wan directed the film, with a script by Chris Morgan and Kurt Russell returning as the mysterious Mr. Nobody, guiding their secret operations. The filmmakers focused on real stunts, enhanced with visual effects for the movie’s biggest moments.
‘Goosebumps’ (2015)
A teenager accidentally brings the monsters from R.L. Stine’s books to life, and he has to team up with the author himself to recapture them. Jack Black stars as R.L. Stine in this action-packed adventure, where a town is invaded by werewolves, gnomes, and other creatures. It’s a fast-moving, fun movie for the whole family, directed by Rob Letterman and based on the popular book series, with a screenplay by Darren Lemke.
‘The Cabin in the Woods’ (2012)
A group of five friends escapes to a secluded cabin for a weekend, unknowingly becoming part of a strange experiment orchestrated by a team of technicians. The movie cuts between the friends’ terrifying experiences in the woods and the technicians monitoring them from a control room, slowly revealing a bigger, unsettling picture that twists classic horror themes. The film stars Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, and Jesse Williams, with Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford playing the technicians. It’s directed by Drew Goddard, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joss Whedon.
‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1’ (2010)
Harry, Ron, and Hermione leave Hogwarts to destroy Voldemort’s Horcruxes, facing danger, deception, and difficult decisions as they try to stay one step ahead of his followers, the Death Eaters. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, and sets the stage for the epic final battle. Directed by David Yates and written by Steve Kloves, this installment is a grimmer, more suspenseful chapter focusing on the trio’s desperate flight. The story highlights the importance of keeping secrets, remaining loyal under intense pressure, and the escalating conflict within the wizarding world.
‘Silent Hill’ (2006)
After her adopted daughter goes missing, a woman named Rose ventures into a mysterious, fog-covered town, where she faces dangerous cultists and terrifying creatures. Starring Radha Mitchell and Sean Bean, the movie is based on a popular game and uses many of its iconic images. It focuses more on building suspense and creating unsettling monsters than on action-packed scenes. Directed by Christophe Gans, the story reveals the town’s disturbing past, filled with rituals, feelings of guilt, and sacrifice.
