This funny underwater movie is full of famous voices and playfully spoofs classic gangster films.

‘Despicable Me 4’ (2024)

Okay, so I’m SO excited about the new Despicable Me movie! Basically, Gru’s old enemy, Maxime Le Mal, breaks out of prison and comes after him and the family. They have to go into hiding in this normal town called Mayflower, and it’s hilarious watching Gru try to fit in and be a dad to his new baby. Plus, some of the Minions get turned into these super-strong ‘Mega Minions’ to help out the good guys! It’s got all sorts of cool new gadgets and it’s really fun seeing Gru adjust to being a suburban dad – it’s a great mix of action and heartwarming moments.

‘Shrek Forever After’ (2010)

Shrek, stressed by his everyday life, makes a bargain with the tricky Rumpelstiltskin to experience being a ‘real ogre’ for just one day. But he’s fooled into a different reality where he never existed, and the villainous Lord Farquaad still reigns, with ogres being hunted. To fix things and get his life back to normal, Shrek needs to find Fiona and share a true love’s kiss before the day is over. This movie wraps up the story that began with the first four ‘Shrek’ films from DreamWorks.

‘Ride On’ (2023)

Luo, a down-on-his-luck former stuntman, depends on his horse, Red Hare, for both company and income. Facing the loss of Red Hare due to a legal issue, he reaches out to his daughter and her lawyer boyfriend for assistance. A video of them defending themselves against debt collectors unexpectedly goes viral, bringing them attention and the possibility of a career comeback. This action-packed film honors the legacy of stunt performers and features Jackie Chan.

‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1’ (2014)

After the Hunger Games are over, Katniss Everdeen ends up in District 13 and has a hard time adjusting to being the symbol of a growing rebellion. With help from President Coin and Plutarch Heavensbee, she starts making videos meant to inspire the districts to fight against the Capitol. Though she’s involved in the rebellion, Katniss is mostly focused on saving Peeta Mellark, who’s being held captive and manipulated by President Snow. The story examines the emotional effects of war and how easily the media can be used to control people.

‘The Proposal’ (2009)

Margaret Tate is a tough boss who risks being sent back to Canada because she forgot to renew her work papers. To avoid deportation and stay in New York, she asks her assistant, Andrew Paxton, to marry her, promising him a promotion in return. They journey to Alaska for Andrew’s grandmother’s birthday, all while being shadowed by an immigration officer who’s starting to suspect something isn’t right. This funny and heartwarming movie depends on the connection between Margaret and Andrew as their fake marriage starts to feel surprisingly real.

‘The Hunger Games’ (2012)

In the ruined country of Panem, the government forces each of twelve districts to send two children to compete in a deadly, televised battle. When Katniss Everdeen’s younger sister is chosen, Katniss bravely volunteers in her place. She and Peeta Mellark travel to the Capitol for training, where they must form alliances and overcome dangerous obstacles set by the event’s creators. This movie is based on a popular book and explores themes of staying alive and the unfairness of society.

‘Despicable Me 2’ (2013)

Gru has given up being a villain and is now a dad and a successful jelly maker. But his quiet life is disrupted when he’s asked by a group of heroes to investigate the stolen PX-41, a powerful and dangerous substance. He teams up with agent Lucy Wilde to uncover a hidden villain who’s disguised as an ordinary shopkeeper at the mall. Throughout the adventure, Gru juggles his mission with the challenges of family life and a crisis involving his mischievous Minions.

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ (2013)

Katniss and Peeta won the Hunger Games, but their act of rebellion inspired uprisings across Panem. To crush these revolts, President Snow declares a special 75th Hunger Games, forcing previous winners to compete again. The returning tributes face deadly traps in a tropical arena and secretly work together to dismantle the oppressive system. This installment is known for its richer, more detailed world and higher stakes political drama.

‘Despicable Me’ (2010)

Gru is a supervillain determined to prove he’s better than his competitor, Vector, and he comes up with a wild plan to steal the moon! To help with this, he adopts three orphaned sisters – Margo, Edith, and Agnes – hoping they’ll get him close to Vector’s base. But as Gru spends time with the girls, he starts to change, and finds himself questioning if being a villain is more important than being a dad. This movie was a huge hit, launching a massive franchise and introducing the lovable, world-famous Minions.
