Okay, so Disney+ is seriously overflowing with great stuff right now. As a movie fan, I’m thinking it’s the perfect weekend to check out some of the newest releases and revisit some old favorites. I’m planning a mix – starting with those shiny 2025 drops, then diving into some superhero action, maybe a classic stop-motion film, and definitely something the whole family will love. Here are ten easy movies to add to your watchlist tonight.
‘Elio’ (2025)

Pixar’s latest movie is an exciting space adventure about a boy who unexpectedly ends up at a meeting of galactic leaders. Mistaken for Earth’s representative, he causes a bit of delightful chaos and has to think on his feet. Directed by Adrian Molina and featuring the voices of Yonas Kibreab and America Ferrera, the film is full of creative alien characters and focuses on themes of family and understanding. It’s currently the most popular movie on Disney+.
‘Lilo & Stitch’ (2025)

This new live-action film stays true to the original’s Hawaiian setting and heartwarming family themes, but with a modern look and feel. Directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp, the movie brings Stitch to life using impressive visual effects that showcase his personality and humor. At its core, the story is about the power of family, overcoming challenges, and the special bond between a girl and her alien friend – a connection that drives the exciting action. The film also features a new cast, bringing a fresh perspective to this beloved story.
‘Thunderbolts*’ (2025)

I’m really excited about this new Marvel movie! It brings together a lot of characters we’ve seen before – some heroes, some… not so heroic – for what looks like a seriously intense mission. Jake Schreier is directing a fantastic cast including Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. From what I’ve seen, it’s going to be a really cool spy thriller with some awesome action, but also a lot of tension because these characters don’t always see eye-to-eye. It seems like everyone has their own goals within this secret operation, which should make things really interesting!
‘Tron: Ares | A Special Look’ (2025)

This short video offers a sneak peek at the upcoming ‘Tron’ film, showcasing early concept art and behind-the-scenes footage. It focuses on the designs for the costumes, vehicles, and the digital world within the Grid. Director Joachim Rønning explains how the new story builds upon the original films, and features cast member Jared Leto. The video also details the technology used to create the updated digital environment.
‘Incredibles 2’ (2018)

The new movie starts right where the first one left off, with Elastigirl taking on a high-profile mission and Mr. Incredible focusing on family life. Brad Bird is back to write and direct, adding more superheroes to the mix and introducing villains who rely on advanced technology. The action is exciting, mixing big battles with heartfelt moments for the family. At its heart, the story is about working together, finding out who you are, and earning the public’s confidence.
‘The Incredibles’ (2004)

Brad Bird’s first ‘Incredibles’ movie centers on the Parr family, who are living a secret life until a new enemy pushes them back into superhero action. The film has a unique, retro-future style that creates its overall mood, and Michael Giacchino’s energetic score enhances both quiet, stealthy moments and big action scenes. Importantly, the movie’s focus on the Parrs working together as a family paved the way for the sequel.
‘The Book of Life’ (2014)

Jorge R. Gutiérrez’s animated film, produced by Guillermo del Toro, is a vibrant adventure that beautifully combines Mexican folklore, a love story, and the importance of family, all centered around the Day of the Dead. The movie features great voice acting from Diego Luna, Zoë Saldaña, and Channing Tatum, and its unique visual style is defined by characters that look like carved wood and sets that feel like layered artwork. It’s a lively and musical story deeply rooted in Mexican culture.
‘Ice Age’ (2002)

A woolly mammoth, a sloth, and a saber-toothed tiger journey across icy lands to reunite a lost baby with its family. The movie, created by Blue Sky Studios, uses a funny, character-focused approach within the framework of a prehistoric road trip. The voice talents of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, and Denis Leary create a memorable and engaging dynamic that led to several follow-up films. Throughout the main story, humorous scenes featuring the character Scrat provide comic relief.
‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ (1993)

Directed by Henry Selick and originally conceived by Tim Burton, this stop-motion musical features music and a score by Danny Elfman. The story follows Jack Skellington’s attempt to take charge of Christmas, leading to beautifully crafted and detailed animated scenes. The film’s unique visual style comes from its use of puppets and miniature sets, and its memorable music makes it a yearly favorite around the holidays.
‘Hocus Pocus’ (1993)

When a spell goes wrong, the Sanderson sisters are magically brought back to life in present-day Salem on Halloween. Directed by Kenny Ortega and starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, the movie follows a frantic overnight chase fueled by real-life effects, musical performances, and the history of the town. Its memorable lines and funny moments are why it remains a Halloween favorite.
