Disney+ remains a top choice for family entertainment, with a wide variety of animated movies, classic live-action films, and exciting new releases. This week, popular titles show a big increase in viewers for both well-loved franchises and projects that have recently generated buzz. These selections offer diverse stories, from the colorful landscapes of Brazil to explorations of the human mind. Subscribers are enjoying a mix of beloved classics and innovative new sequels, which are currently the most-watched content on the platform.
‘The Muppet Show’ (2026)

The new version of this beloved show is already creating a lot of excitement online before it even comes out. It’s designed to update the classic comedy and music of Jim Henson’s characters for today’s audience, with appearances by current celebrities. Kermit the Frog and friends will be back to bring the laughs and energy of a live stage show. People are saying it will capture what everyone loves about the original while also feeling fresh and modern. The show’s popularity on trending lists proves that it continues to appeal to fans of all ages.
‘Ella McCay’ (2025)

The new film follows a hopeful young governor as she navigates the challenges of both her family life and the demands of her job. It’s a return for director James L. Brooks, famous for films that are both funny and deeply moving. The movie has quickly become popular, and people are talking about it, especially with news of its production and impressive cast. At its heart, the story examines how personal beliefs and values clash with the compromises often necessary in politics. It’s currently generating a lot of buzz as one of the most anticipated releases on Disney+.
‘The Devil Wears Prada’ (2006)

As a film buff, I always come back to ‘The Devil Wears Prada.’ It tells the story of Andy, a young woman hoping to be a serious journalist, who unexpectedly lands a job as assistant to Miranda Priestly, a seriously intimidating fashion magazine editor. Honestly, Andy couldn’t be less interested in fashion at first, but she quickly has to learn the ropes to handle the pressure and just survive working for Miranda. What really makes this movie stand out, though, is how witty the writing is and the incredible performances from Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. It’s become a modern classic for a reason! People still love watching it because it’s a smart, funny, and dramatic look at chasing your dreams and staying true to yourself. It’s definitely one of my go-to films when I want something both funny and thought-provoking.
‘Despicable Me’ (2010)

Gru is a determined villain with a big plan: to steal the moon! He enlists his quirky Minions to help, but his scheme takes a surprising turn when he adopts three orphaned sisters. As he cares for them, Gru unexpectedly becomes a father figure. The movie became a huge success, launching a popular franchise thanks to its mix of funny moments and a touching story about second chances and the importance of family. It continues to be a favorite for families watching movies at home, and its distinctive animation style has made it a modern classic.
‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ (2022)

More than ten years after the first film, the story follows Jake Sully, Ney’tiri, and their family as they search for safety with the reef-dwelling Metkayina clan on Pandora. They must learn to survive in a new, underwater world while also defending their children from a renewed human threat. Director James Cameron used groundbreaking underwater filming techniques to create a visually spectacular and immersive movie. The film delves into important themes like protecting the environment and the lengths parents will go to for their families. It continues to be a massive box office success and a popular choice for viewers.
‘The Princess and the Frog’ (2009)

Set in 1920s New Orleans, “The Princess and the Frog” tells the story of Tiana, a hardworking young woman with big dreams of opening her own restaurant. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Prince Naveen, who’s been magically transformed into a frog. After a kiss turns Tiana into a frog too, they embark on a journey through the Louisiana bayou to break the spell. The movie is known for its beautiful, traditional animation style and lively jazz music, and it stands out as a classic Disney tale featuring a determined and ambitious heroine.
‘Despicable Me 2’ (2013)

After giving up being a villain to be a dad and run a business, Gru is pulled back into action when the Anti-Villain League asks for his help. A new criminal has stolen a dangerous chemical, and Gru teams up with the energetic secret agent Lucy Wilde. This partnership pushes Gru outside his comfort zone. The movie also features more of the lovable Minions, along with fun new gadgets and plenty of humor, continuing what made the first film so popular. It’s still a favorite for anyone looking for a fun and exciting animated adventure.
‘TRON: Ares’ (2025)

The new TRON film follows Ares, an advanced digital program, as he ventures into the real world on a risky assignment. This movie marks a significant change for the series, delving into what happens when artificial intelligence becomes physically present in our society. Excitement has been building thanks to recent previews and images, making the film a hot topic online as fans eagerly await the next installment. The creators promise to keep the series’ iconic glowing visuals and cutting-edge special effects, building on the strong fanbase and curiosity about where the story will go next.
‘Inside Out 2’ (2024)

The story revisits Riley as she navigates the challenges of being a teenager and experiencing puberty, bringing with it a wave of new, complicated feelings. As Riley changes, new emotions – Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment – arrive at headquarters, shaking things up for Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. The film cleverly explores the emotional rollercoaster of adolescence, building on the imaginative world established in the first movie. It’s been a huge success, connecting with audiences of all ages through its realistic and heartfelt portrayal of growing up, and is currently a popular streaming hit on Disney+.
‘Rio’ (2011)

Okay, so I recently rewatched ‘Rio,’ and it’s still such a fun movie! It’s about this super rare blue macaw named Blu who’s basically lived as a pampered pet his whole life and doesn’t even know how to fly. Then, out of nowhere, his owner takes him to Rio de Janeiro to meet a female macaw, Jewel, and they end up getting kidnapped! It’s a really heartwarming story about Blu finding his inner wild side and learning to fly – and saving Jewel, of course. What I love most is how lively and colorful it is, especially the scenes of Carnival – the animation is just gorgeous. It’s been topping the charts again this week, and I totally get why – it’s just a really charming and feel-good movie!
