‘The Lost Bus’ (2025)

Directed by Paul Greengrass, this intense drama is based on the true story of the 2018 Camp Fire in Paradise, California. It follows a school bus driver and a teacher as they bravely lead 22 children to safety through dangerous, smoke-filled roads. Starring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera, the film’s screenplay was co-written by Greengrass and Brad Ingelsby, drawing inspiration from reporting by Lizzie Johnson. Released in theaters by Apple Original Films, it became available on Apple TV+ in early October 2025 and quickly rose to become one of the service’s most popular titles. The film has a runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes.

‘All of You’ (2025)

Written and directed by William Bridges, and co-written by and starring Brett Goldstein, this romantic film is set in the near future. It follows two close friends whose lives are changed after taking a test that claims to identify soulmates. Imogen Poots also stars. Apple will release the film worldwide on September 26, 2025. The movie is almost 100 minutes long and is rated R for mature language, sexual themes, and some drug use. It’s one of the highly anticipated Apple Originals coming this fall.

‘Highest 2 Lowest’ (2025)

Spike Lee’s new crime thriller is a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s ‘High and Low,’ updated for modern audiences. The story revolves around a kidnapping that puts a wealthy businessman in a difficult and painful situation. Denzel Washington leads the cast, with Jeffrey Wright and A$AP Rocky also appearing. Matthew Libatique handled the cinematography. The film is a collaboration between Apple Original Films and A24, and is scheduled for release in 2025. It will be available on Apple TV+ and has received an R rating.

‘The Gorge’ (2025)

Directed by Scott Derrickson, this action-romance with sci-fi elements follows two highly skilled agents tasked with protecting a strange and dangerous gap in the earth. Starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, with a significant role played by Sigourney Weaver, the film was written by Zach Dean. Apple Original Films released it worldwide on February 14, 2025, and it runs for 2 hours and 7 minutes. The movie combines the suspense of constant observation with a story focused on the characters and what they stand to lose.

‘Fountain of Youth’ (2025)

I just got a sneak peek at Guy Ritchie’s latest, and it’s a fun ride! It centers around two siblings, played by John Krasinski and Natalie Portman, who are forced to team up on a worldwide treasure hunt – they’re after some kind of legendary spring, and it takes them all over the globe. The cast is fantastic, featuring Eiza González, Domhnall Gleeson, and Stanley Tucci, among others. The story, penned by James Vanderbilt, is full of clever puzzles, competing teams also after the prize, and a lot of sibling rivalry. It’s coming to Apple TV+ in late May 2025, and from what I’ve seen, it was clearly a massive production, filmed in several countries.

‘The Family Plan’ (2023)

I just finished watching this movie with Mark Wahlberg, and it was a wild ride! He plays a seemingly normal guy – a car salesman with a family – but it turns out he has a secret past as a government assassin. Suddenly, his family is thrown into this crazy cross-country escape. It’s directed by Simon Cellan Jones and the story is by David Coggeshall. Apple Studios, Skydance, and Municipal Pictures all helped make it happen. Michelle Monaghan is fantastic alongside Wahlberg, and Maggie Q and Ciarán Hinds are great in their supporting roles. It dropped on Apple TV+ late last year and it’s a fun, action-packed comedy – definitely a PG-13 kind of movie.

‘Sharper’ (2023)

This suspenseful thriller, directed by Benjamin Caron and written by Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka, takes place among the scams and luxurious apartments of New York City. The film stars Julianne Moore, Sebastian Stan, Justice Smith, Briana Middleton, and John Lithgow. Apple and A24 collaborated to offer a brief theatrical release in February 2023 before it became available for streaming. The story is told in parts, gradually revealing the hidden reasons behind characters’ actions and how their increasingly complex schemes connect.

‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever’ (2022)

Directed by Peter Farrelly, the movie stars Zac Efron as John “Chickie” Donohue, who embarked on a journey in 1967 to bring beer to his buddies fighting in Vietnam. Russell Crowe plays a key role in the film, which is based on a book co-written by Donohue and Joanna Molloy. It first shown at the Toronto International Film Festival and then became available on Apple TV+ on September 30, 2022. Skydance produced the movie, and Apple served as the streaming platform.

‘Greyhound’ (2020)

Okay, let me tell you about “Greyhound.” This one’s a gripping WWII naval thriller starring the always-reliable Tom Hanks, who also wrote the script! It’s based on a novel by C.S. Forester and directed by Aaron Schneider. I watched it on Apple TV+ – Apple picked it up a while back in 2020. The film puts you right in the shoes of a first-time destroyer captain tasked with leading a convoy through dangerous waters swarming with German U-boats. What really struck me was how much it focused on the authentic tactics used during these crossings and the incredibly tough decisions the captain had to make under immense pressure. It felt very realistic and kept me on the edge of my seat.

‘It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’ (1966)

Every October, families love to watch this 25-minute Peanuts classic! It follows Linus as he patiently waits for the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown as he gets ready for a party, and Snoopy as he dreams of being a WWI pilot. You can easily find it streaming on Apple TV+, especially around Halloween, within the platform’s Peanuts collection. Directed by Bill Melendez and featuring music by Vince Guaraldi, this beloved special continues to be a fall tradition.
