I’m really excited about what Paramount+ is offering this month! They’ve got a great mix of shows coming up – a brand new, limited-run drama series, plus some familiar favorites from network TV, and even a long-running daytime classic. They’ve made it easy to find out what each show is about, who stars in it, and who’s behind the scenes, so you can quickly find something you’ll love.
The dates listed for each show indicate when it will be available to stream this month. Each listing provides key details about the plot, main actors and their characters, and the creative team behind the episodes—like creators, writers, and directors—but doesn’t mention where else you can watch it or how it’s being released.
‘Red Alert’ (2025)
Premiering on Tuesday, October 7th, ‘Red Alert’ is a four-part series that tells the story of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks in Israel through the eyes of those who experienced it. The drama weaves together firsthand accounts from civilians, first responders, and investigators as the events happened. Created and directed by Lior Chefetz and produced by Keshet Media Group and Lawrence Bender, the series stars Rotem Sela, Israel Atias, Miki Leon, Hisham Sulliman, and Chen Amsalem.
Each episode tells two connected stories: one following events in border communities and another inside command centers. The show uses a realistic, documentary-style approach, recreating actual events and conversations. Planned as a complete, single season story, it’s directed throughout by Chefetz. Chefetz also leads the writing team, who structure each hour-long episode to show events from different perspectives that eventually come together.
‘The Young and the Restless’ (1973–)
The long-running drama ‘The Young and the Restless’ returns Wednesday, October 8th, continuing its stories of love, rivalry, and family in the fictional town of Genoa City. Created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell, the show stars Eric Braeden, Melody Thomas Scott, Peter Bergman, Sharon Case, Joshua Morrow, Michelle Stafford, Bryton James, and Christel Khalil as they navigate complex relationships and business conflicts.
Josh Griffith leads the writing and production of the show, guiding its overall storylines. A team of directors, including Sally McDonald, Owen Renfroe, and Casey Childs, are responsible for the show’s visual style. The series focuses on the competitive world of Newman Enterprises and Jabot, exploring family dramas, long-lasting love stories, and challenging situations involving law and medicine – all impacting the interconnected lives of the characters and those around them.
‘Matlock’ (2024–)
The new series ‘Matlock’ premieres on Sunday, October 12th, and puts a fresh spin on the beloved courtroom drama. Kathy Bates stars as Madeline “Maddie” Matlock, an experienced lawyer who takes on challenging cases at a prestigious New York law firm. She solves them by carefully observing details, asking subtle questions, and using a thoughtful, step-by-step approach. The show, developed for television by Jennie Snyder Urman and based on the original creation by Dean Hargrove, also features Skye P. Marshall, Jason Ritter, David Del Rio, and Leah Lewis.
As a big fan of this show, I’ve been following its creation closely. Jennie Urman is the driving force behind it, not only creating the series but also executive producing. She’s got a fantastic team helping her out, including some seriously talented folks like Kathy Bates and Eric Christian Olsen as executive producers too. Kat Coiro directed the first episode, and it really set the tone – each week features a new case, but there’s this overarching political element and a deeper mystery about Maddie’s life that unfolds slowly. After that initial episode, a team of writers led by Urman and a rotating group of directors kept the show going strong.
‘Elsbeth’ (2024–)
Premiering on Sunday, October 12th, ‘Elsbeth’ centers around the uniquely gifted lawyer Elsbeth Tascioni. The show follows her as she helps the NYPD solve cases in a distinctive way: the criminal is known from the start, and the focus is on *how* the police gather evidence and build a legal case. Created by Robert and Michelle King, the team behind ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘The Good Fight,’ the series stars Carrie Preston as Elsbeth, alongside Wendell Pierce as Captain Wagner and Carra Patterson as Officer Blanke.
Jonathan Tolins is the showrunner and executive producer, working alongside fellow executive producers Robert King, Michelle King, Liz Glotzer, Carrie Preston, and more. The series is produced by Nemorino Productions, King Size Productions, and CBS Studios. Each episode is filmed with a single camera and features a rotating cast of guest stars playing suspects, judges, lawyers, and prominent New Yorkers – all of whom contribute to the intriguing mysteries Elsbeth unravels.
