‘Katrina: Come Hell and High Water’ (2025)

On Wednesday, August 27th, a three-part documentary will air. This series looks back at Hurricane Katrina through the eyes of New Orleanians who lived it, and delves into how levee failures and systemic inequalities influenced the events that unfolded twenty years later. The executive producers for this project are Spike Lee, Geeta Gandbhir, and Sam Pollard, with episodes directed by Gandbhir, Samantha Knowles, and Lee. Alisa Payne is the showrunner for this series.
This work commemorates the 20th year since the 2005 tragedy and incorporates fresh interviews with extensive historical records to showcase the process of rebuilding communities and alterations in policies. The music, composed by Terence Blanchard who often collaborates with Lee, underscores the project’s emphasis on personal experiences and civic responsibility.
‘My Life with the Walter Boys’ (2023– )

On August 28th, you can catch the second season of the teen drama set in Silver Falls, Colorado. Based on Ali Novak’s novel, it revolves around Jackie Howard as she attempts to rebuild her life following a family tragedy. Nikki Rodriguez plays Jackie, with Noah LaLonde as Cole and Ashby Gentry as Alex. Sarah Rafferty and Marc Blucas portray Jackie’s guardians Katherine and George Walter. The series was created by Melanie Halsall.
Continuing with the narrative, the new episodes delve into Jackie’s college aspirations and the intricate tension between Cole and Alex, while life at the Walter ranch undergoes constant changes. The production of this show is handled by Nomadic Pictures along with iGeneration Studios and Sony Pictures Television International Productions. Filming takes place in Alberta locations that serve as stand-ins for Silver Falls.
‘Barbie Mysteries’ (2024– )

The second season, titled ‘Beach Detectives’, premieres on Thursday, August 28th. The voice cast includes Abby Trott reprising her role as Malibu Barbie and Diamond White returning as Brooklyn Barbie. Supporting characters are voiced by Josh Banday as Marcus, Griffin Burns as Ken, Sohm Kapila as Lady Violet Carson, Anjali Kunapaneni as Morgan Carson, Cristina Milizia as Cassidy Birdwhistle, Bobby Moynihan as Giovanni, and David Shaughnessy in various roles. The new season consists of eight episodes, each approximately 25 minutes long.
This season moves on to Malibu Beach Bash, where the friends juggle summer jobs alongside a series of festival thefts that mark the beginning of a fresh case. The enigma introduces new characters as suspects, explores various beach event locations, and includes numerous original songs relevant to each episode. This maintains the show’s transition from travel podcast to detective podcast setup introduced in season 1.
‘Two Graves’ (2025)

Beginning this coming Friday, August 29, a three-episode Spanish miniseries will be released. In this production, Kiti Mánver portrays Isabel, a grandmother who embarks on an unauthorized investigation following the mysterious disappearance of her granddaughter Marta and another girl named Verónica. Álvaro Morte and Hovik Keuchkerian are also featured in the series. The series was created by Agustín Martínez, with scripts penned by Jorge Díaz and Antonio Mercero, while Kike Maíllo serves as director.
As a supporter, I’m delighted to share that I was involved in the creation of a gripping thriller, proudly brought to you by Sábado Películas. This movie was filmed in the breathtaking Axarquía region of Málaga province, with major scenes set in Torrox, Frigiliana, and Nerja.
The story, concisely yet powerfully told within its short runtime, takes us on a rollercoaster ride from a simple missing persons case to a relentless quest for revenge. I played a role in unveiling a tangled web of secrets hidden within the picturesque coastal town, while official investigations seemed to hit a dead end.
