Here’s a rundown of new shows and seasons coming out between October 22nd and 24th, including true crime documentaries, a popular romantic comedy, and a realistic crime series. For each title, you’ll find a quick overview of what it’s about, who stars in it, and who made it, along with the release date to help you schedule your viewing.
‘The Monster of Florence’ (2025)
As a huge fan of true crime and compelling mysteries, I’m really excited about this new limited series. It’s based on the infamous, still-unsolved ‘Il Mostro di Firenze’ murders from Italy – a case that gripped the nation for nearly two decades, from 1968 to 1985. The show dives into the huge investigation, all the different suspects, and the theories that popped up over the years. It’s directed by Stefano Sollima, who also co-created it with Leonardo Fasoli, and stars a fantastic cast including Marco Bullitta, Valentino Mannias, and Francesca Olia. It’s a production from The Apartment and AlterEgo, with some seriously talented people like Lorenzo Mieli and Gina Gardini behind it. Paolo Carnera did the cinematography, and Alessandro Cortini composed the music. It’s premiering on October 22nd, and I’ve already marked my calendar!
‘Mob War: Philadelphia vs. The Mafia’ (2025– )
This Netflix docuseries takes a look back at the violent gang war that gripped Philadelphia’s criminal underworld in the 1990s. It focuses on the rivalry between bosses John Stanfa and Joey Merlino, and the impact their conflict had on the city. Featuring old footage and new interviews, the series details how the feud grew, the major crimes committed, and how the police responded. It’s the first season of a new true-crime series and will be available on Netflix starting Friday, October 24th.
‘Nobody Wants This’ (2024– )
Erin Foster’s new romantic comedy centers on Joanne, a direct and opinionated podcast host, and Noah, a rabbi who doesn’t fit the mold. The series follows their complicated, on-and-off relationship and the challenges they face with family and faith. Kristen Bell and Adam Brody star as Joanne and Noah, alongside Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, Jackie Tohn, and Emily Arlook. Season two welcomes new cast members Leighton Meester, Arian Moayed, Alex Karpovsky, and Miles Fowler. Erin Foster leads the showrunners, joined by Craig DiGregorio, Jenni Konner, and Bruce Eric Kaplan. Executive producers include Foster, Kristen Bell, Steven Levitan, Greg Mottola, and more. New episodes will be available starting Thursday, October 23rd.
‘Parish’ (2024)
Okay, so I just finished watching this new crime drama, and it’s a real ride. It centers around Gracián “Gray” Parish, a New Orleans car service owner who’s trying to leave his shady past behind. But when tragedy strikes his family, he gets pulled right back into a criminal world. Giancarlo Esposito is fantastic as Gray, and he’s supported by a strong cast including Paula Malcomson, Skeet Ulrich, and Bradley Whitford. It’s created by Danny Brocklehurst – you might know his work from the BBC series ‘The Driver’ – and a team of other talented producers. Honestly, if you’re looking for a new thriller, this one drops on Netflix this Friday, October 24th, and I think you’ll be hooked.
