Between January 5th and 11th, Netflix is adding a lot of new shows and movies! This week‘s releases include everything from intense crime dramas and competitive reality shows to exciting historical thrillers – something for everyone. You’ll find both brand new Netflix originals and popular titles joining the platform, including shows from around the world and compelling psychological mysteries. With new content added throughout the week, there’s always something fresh to watch.
‘Good Cop, Bad Cop’ (2023)

I’m really excited about this new crime drama! It’s about two detectives who have totally different ways of doing things, and they’re forced to partner up on some really intense cases. It looks like it’s going to be a deep dive into the darker side of the city, and how all this police work affects the people doing it, both professionally and personally. It officially drops on January 6th, and from what I’ve seen, it’s a really raw and realistic look at what it’s like to be a cop, and all the politics that go on behind the scenes.
‘Unlocked: A Jail Experiment’ (2024)

This documentary series takes a look at a groundbreaking experiment in a detention facility, where inmates are given more freedom and responsibility. The goal is to see if a less strict environment helps them successfully rejoin society. The show follows the experiences of both the staff and the inmates as they adapt to these changes. The entire season will be available to stream starting Wednesday, January 7th, and offers a fresh look at the American justice system and efforts to reform prisons.
‘11.22.63’ (2016)

A high school teacher stumbles upon a time portal to 1960 and decides to try and stop the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. While living in the past, he has to blend in with the different culture and keep his true identity a secret. As he tries to alter history, things become more and more perilous. This highly-rated miniseries, based on a bestselling novel, combines historical drama with science fiction and arrives on Netflix on Wednesday, January 7th.
‘Love Is Blind: Germany’ (2025)

The hit reality show is expanding internationally, now featuring singles from German-speaking countries. Participants try to find love and get engaged by talking to each other through pods – without ever seeing what the other person looks like! After getting engaged, they finally meet in person to see if their connection is real before getting married. The first episode will be available on the streaming service starting Thursday, January 8th. This version keeps the show’s familiar format but offers a fresh, local twist.
‘His & Hers’ (2026)

This thrilling new series follows a murder investigation that pulls a news reporter and a detective into a complex mystery. As they dig deeper, both are forced to confront secrets from their own lives. The story is told from both their viewpoints, showing how unreliable memory and perception can be. You can start watching it on January 8th – it’s a suspenseful story about uncovering the truth and the hidden lives of those involved.
‘Prodigal Son’ (2019)

Malcolm Bright is a brilliant criminal psychologist who can get inside the minds of killers, allowing him to assist the police in solving cases. However, his ability stems from a difficult truth: his father is a famous serial killer serving a life sentence. The series follows Bright as he navigates his successful career while grappling with the psychological impact of his family history and his complex relationship with his father. It premieres on Friday, January 9th, blending classic crime-solving with a fascinating exploration of criminal psychology.
‘Alpha Males’ (2022)

This funny series centers on four friends figuring things out as ideas about what it means to be a man are changing. They’re dealing with career shifts and new relationships, all while trying to find their place in the world. The show uses humor to explore modern life, personal growth, and the challenges that come with it. New episodes will be available starting Friday, January 9th, offering a witty and insightful look at friendship and today’s society.
