We’ve put together a handy guide with details on each film—what it’s about, who created it, and who stars in it—plus the exact release date so you can easily plan your next trip to the cinema.
‘Depeche Mode: M’ (2025)

As a huge Depeche Mode fan, I’m really excited about their concert documentary coming out on October 28, 2025! It features footage from their incredible ‘Memento Mori’ tour stops in Mexico City, and it’s more than just a concert film – it really digs into themes of life and death, and beautifully incorporates Mexican culture. It’s directed by Fernando Frías de la Parra, with stunning visuals by Damián García, and narrated by Daniel Giménez Cacho. The film focuses on Dave Gahan and Martin Gore, and it’s especially poignant because it reflects on the band’s history and legacy after the loss of Andy Fletcher, using both new footage and older clips. I was lucky enough to see it at Tribeca earlier this year, and they’re also releasing a live album alongside it, which is awesome!
‘ParaNorman’ (2012)

Get ready for a return to theaters on October 28, 2025, with this charming stop-motion animated film from Laika. It tells the story of Norman Babcock, a boy with the unique ability to talk to the dead, who must save his town from an ancient curse. Directed by Sam Fell and Chris Butler (who also wrote the script), the movie stars the voices of Kodi Smit-McPhee, Anna Kendrick, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Tucker Albrizzi. The film boasts a wonderfully spooky, distinctly American visual style and innovative animation techniques, combining practical effects with 3D printing. The playful yet eerie music, composed by Marco Beltrami and Jon Brion, perfectly complements the film’s ghostly and fun-filled adventure.
‘Twilight’ (2008)

The first movie in the Twilight saga returns to theaters on October 29, 2025. Based on Stephenie Meyer’s novel, it tells the story of Bella Swan’s move to Forks, Washington, and her blossoming romance with vampire Edward Cullen. Directed by Catherine Hardwicke and written by Melissa Rosenberg, the film stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Billy Burke. Filmed in the Pacific Northwest, it’s known for its distinctive blue-gray visuals and modern take on vampires. The film’s music, composed by Carter Burwell and featuring popular songs, became as famous as the central love story.
‘Stitch Head’ (2025)

Launching October 29, 2025, this funny and spooky animated movie is based on a book by Guy Bass. It tells the story of a creature made from stitched-together parts who defends his unusual inventor and the town next door from monsters that aren’t as scary as they seem. Steve Hudson wrote and directed the film, which features the voices of Asa Butterfield, Joel Fry, Alison Steadman, and Rob Brydon. The movie was produced by Aniventure and other companies, and it first premiered at the Annecy festival before being released in the U.S. The music, composed by Nick Urata, adds to the film’s dark and whimsical storybook feel.
‘Anniversary’ (2025)

Hitting theaters October 29, 2025, this new thriller directed by Jan Komasa (and co-written with Lori Rosene-Gambino) follows a family as they come together to celebrate a 25th wedding anniversary. Old beliefs and long-held secrets surface, creating tension and conflict. The film stars Diane Lane, Kyle Chandler, Madeline Brewer, Zoey Deutch, Phoebe Dynevor, Dylan O’Brien, and Mckenna Grace. Komasa again collaborates with cinematographer Piotr Sobociński Jr., crafting a tense and intimate story that builds to a climax of paranoia and confrontation, enhanced by a haunting score from Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans.
‘Dracula’ (2025)

Radu Jude’s new film, a darkly comedic and musical take on the Dracula story, arrives October 29, 2025. Set in modern-day Transylvania, it blends elements of labor conflicts, media frenzy, and local legends. Written and directed by Jude, the film stars Ilinca Manolache, Șerban Pavlu, Alexandru Dabija, Eszter Tompa, and Adonis Tanța, with cinematography by Marius Panduru and editing by Cătălin Cristuțiu. The project is a collaboration between European production companies Saga Film and RT Features. The film’s length mirrors Jude’s unique style, which combines insightful commentary, diverse artistic forms, and social criticism.
‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ (2009)

The second installment, releasing October 30, 2025, continues Bella’s story after Edward leaves, and reveals Jacob’s ability to shapeshift. This expands the supernatural elements of the saga, introducing the Volturi in Italy. Directed by Chris Weitz and based on Stephenie Meyer’s novel by screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, the film stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. The film’s visuals, captured by Javier Aguirresarobe, move from the cooler look of the first movie to warmer, brighter scenes in Volterra, while Alexandre Desplat’s music enhances the film’s sad and reflective tone.
‘Libera nos: Il trionfo sul male’ (2024)

Coming October 30, 2025, this Italian documentary by Giovanni Ziberna and Valeria Baldan explores Catholic exorcism. It combines personal stories from those involved, recreated scenes, and expert religious analysis. The film features people like Michela Cembran and Daniela Giorgini and looks at how modern faith communities deal with claims of demonic possession. By bringing together priests, believers, and non-believers, the filmmakers examine the complex intersection of ritual, faith, and psychology. The documentary uses a mix of interviews and dramatic reenactments to encourage viewers to think critically about the subject.
‘Bugonia’ (2025)

Opening on October 31, 2025, the new film from director Yorgos Lanthimos is a darkly comedic remake of the South Korean movie ‘Save the Green Planet!’. Written by Will Tracy, it stars Emma Stone as the CEO of a pharmaceutical company who is kidnapped by two cousins (including Jesse Plemons). They believe she’s an alien intent on destroying humankind. Aidan Delbis and Stavros Halkias also star. The film, produced by Element Pictures, Square Peg, and CJ ENM, brings back Lanthimos’s frequent collaborators, cinematographer Robbie Ryan and editor Yorgos Mavropsaridis. Jerskin Fendrix composed the unsettling and unique score.
‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ (2010)

The third movie in the series returns to theaters on October 31, 2025, focusing on Bella as she’s caught in a conflict with a group of newly turned vampires. Meanwhile, the powerful Volturi are keeping a close eye on everything, and a secret is brewing in Seattle. Directed by David Slade and written by Melissa Rosenberg, the film stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Xavier Samuel. Expect more action and impressive stunts alongside the ongoing romantic drama between the characters. The music, composed by Howard Shore, creates a moodier and more intense atmosphere for the story.
‘Back to the Future’ (1985)

As a huge film buff, I can’t believe Back to the Future is turning 40 in 2025! It’s one of those movies that just never gets old. The story follows Marty McFly, who accidentally travels from 1985 all the way back to 1955, and ends up messing with his parents’ first meeting – which, naturally, threatens his very existence! Robert Zemeckis directed and co-wrote it with Bob Gale, and the cast – Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and Crispin Glover – are all fantastic. Everything about it, from the iconic DeLorean car to the special effects by Industrial Light & Magic and Alan Silvestri’s amazing score, really made it a pop-culture phenomenon. And honestly, the clever, puzzle-like way the story unfolds still feels incredibly fresh and inspiring for adventure films today.
‘Self-Help’ (2025)

A new horror-thriller arrives in theaters on October 31, 2025, from writer and director Erik Bloomquist. The story centers on a young woman who goes undercover at a self-help retreat when her mother gets involved with its mysterious leader. Landry Bender stars, alongside Jake Weber, Madison Lintz, and Amy Hargreaves. The film, produced by Mainframe Pictures, combines elements of cult dynamics with classic slasher thrills and has been rated R for strong violence, language, and sexual content.
‘Little Amélie or the Character of Rain’ (2025)

Coming to theaters October 31, 2025, this beautifully hand-drawn animated film is based on Amélie Nothomb’s personal story of growing up in Japan in the late 1960s. It follows a young child as she slowly begins to understand language, form memories, and discover who she is. Directed by Maïlys Vallade and Liane-Cho Han, and produced by Maybe Movies and Ikki Films, the film will be released in North America by GKIDS. Its soft, watercolor-like visuals perfectly match the film’s thoughtful and poetic style. Loïse Charpentier and Victoria Grobois provide the voices for young Amélie and her family.
‘Bāhubali: The Epic’ (2025)

On October 31, 2025, a remastered version of the epic film series ‘Baahubali’ will arrive in theaters. This new cut combines both ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ and ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ into one continuous movie. The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sathyaraj, and Ramya Krishnan, and tells the story of the kingdom of Mahishmati over multiple generations. With stunning visuals by K. K. Senthil Kumar and a story by S. S. Rajamouli and Vijayendra Prasad, this edition features improved picture and sound quality alongside a newly edited narrative.
‘Violent Ends’ (2025)

Coming to theaters on October 31, 2025, this intense thriller set in the South is both written and directed by John-Michael Powell. Billy Magnussen plays Lucas Frost, a man trying to escape his family’s violent past, alongside Alexandra Shipp, James Badge Dale, Ray McKinnon, and Nick Stahl. The story centers on Lucas’s efforts to create a normal life with his partner, which are disrupted when a relative’s failed crime pulls him back into a world of violence. The film is produced by Undine Buka and Vincent Sieber, and will be distributed by IFC Films.
‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ (2012)

The final chapter in the saga arrives November 1, 2025, showing Bella’s change into a vampire and the Cullens working to gather support against the Volturi, who mistakenly believe their child is a danger. Directed by Bill Condon, with a script by Melissa Rosenberg based on Stephenie Meyer’s novel, the film stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Peter Facinelli. The story features more vampire families, expanding the world, and culminates in a large-scale ending with stunning visuals from cinematographer Guillermo Navarro, bringing the series to a satisfying close.
‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1’ (2011)

The next installment, releasing November 1, 2025, continues the story of Bella and Edward’s life together, including the challenges of a difficult pregnancy and the changing relationships within their circle, particularly Jacob’s. Directed by Bill Condon and written by Melissa Rosenberg, the film features Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Gil Birmingham. It reveals how Renesmee comes to be and builds towards the final chapter of the saga. Guillermo Navarro’s cinematography and Carter Burwell’s music create a darkly romantic atmosphere.
