‘Autumn at Apple Hill’ (2024)

Recently divorced, Elise inherits her grandparents’ countryside inn and works hard to renovate it before the busy autumn season. She reconnects with her community and finds a spark with local contractor Luke as the inn welcomes returning visitors for harvest festivals. The movie stars Erin Cahill as Elise and Wes Brown as Luke, with Paula Boudreau and Sarah Luby also appearing; it premieres on October 6th.

I’m so excited about this new movie! It’s directed by Séan Geraughty and based on a wonderful book by Angie Ellington, with the script written by Paul Ditty. Anthony Fankhauser and Cartel Pictures are producing it, along with Hallmark and Crown Media, so you *know* it’s going to be good! The team behind it is amazing – Tyler Westen did the music and Brad Crawford is the cinematographer. It’s a 90-minute story about small-town life, filled with fall festivals, fixing up old places, and the challenges and rewards of running a family business. It just sounds so cozy and heartwarming!

‘Fall’ (2022)

Okay, so I just heard about this new movie, and it sounds intense! It’s about two best friends, Becky and Hunter, who decide to climb this huge, old radio tower – like, 2,000 feet high! – for one last thrill. Naturally, things go wrong and they get stuck up there with barely anything to help them. The movie follows how they try to survive, but it’s not just about that; being in such a crazy situation brings up a lot of old pain and secrets between them. Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner are the leads, and Mason Gooding and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are also in it, which is awesome. It’s hitting screens on Wednesday, October 8th, and I’m already intrigued!

Scott Mann directed the thriller and also co-wrote the story with Jonathan Frank. Miguel “MacGregor” Olaso handled the cinematography, Robert Hall edited the film, and Tim Despic composed the music. The movie was produced by Tea Shop Productions, BuzzFeed Studios, Capstone Pictures, and Flawless Productions Inc.

‘A Nanny to Die For’ (2024)

As a big thriller fan, I’m really intrigued by this new movie! It’s about a working mom who thinks she’s found the perfect nanny for her teenage daughter, but things quickly get complicated. It turns out the nanny has a secret past that starts to unravel the family’s life, and what seemed like a great solution turns into a tense, suspenseful story full of secrets and hidden cameras. It stars Brittany Carel, Meredith Thomas, Robert Brian Wilson, and Scarlett Fronk, and it’s hitting screens on October 11th – I’ve already marked my calendar!

The film, directed by David DeCoteau and written by Adam Rockoff, is approximately 90 minutes long and was produced by Hybrid. Christopher Cano composed the music, and Rusty Olson edited the film. The story unfolds as everyday life in the neighborhood is disrupted by mysterious online clues, slowly revealing a hidden connection between the nanny and the family she works for.

‘Asteroid City’ (2023)

A quirky story unfolds in a 1955 desert town during a convention for young astronomy and space enthusiasts. A grieving father who’s a war photographer, his smart kids, and a celebrated actress find their lives unexpectedly intertwined when a strange cosmic event leads to a town-wide quarantine and changes everyone’s relationships. The film stars an incredible cast including Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, and many more, and will be released on October 11th.

Wes Anderson wrote and directed this film, based on a story he developed with Roman Coppola. Indian Paintbrush and American Empirical Pictures produced it. Robert Yeoman handled the cinematography, Barney Pilling edited the film, and Alexandre Desplat composed the music. The film uniquely blends a live play with the story unfolding in the main setting, cutting back and forth between the two.

‘Ragnarok’ (2013)

An archaeologist cracks the code of ancient runes connected to the Viking myth of Ragnarök, leading a team to a secluded area on the Norway-Russia border. There, they face a creature from Viking stories that was also hidden during the Cold War. The Norwegian series, starring Pål Sverre Hagen, Nicolai Cleve Broch, Sofia Helin, and Bjørn Sundquist, will be released on Saturday, October 11th.

The adventure film, ‘Gåten Ragnarok’, directed by Mikkel Brænne Sandemose and written by John Kåre Raake, is approximately 100 minutes long and was produced by Fantefilm. The story unfolds as a thrilling puzzle, driven by on-location filming and archaeological discoveries, combining the excitement of an expedition movie with the thrills of a monster feature.

‘Curious Caterer: Forbidden Fruit’ (2024)

When a singer is electrocuted during a catered date night performance, culinary sleuth Goldy and Detective Tom Schultz find themselves investigating a murder. The case involves everything from stage equipment and event planning to personal relationships. Starring Nikki DeLoach and Andrew W. Walker, this latest installment in the series—which blends cooking, event preparation, and mystery solving—premieres on Sunday, October 12th.

This 90-minute mystery, directed by David Winning and written by Michelle Ricci and Julie Kim, is based on characters from Diane Mott Davidson’s stories. Produced by Timeless Pictures, the episode focuses on how and why the venue was set up technically, and uses familiar characters and the local area to help solve the case.
