Here Are All the Movies Coming to and Leaving Hulu This Week, Including a Popular New Horror

Hulu is adding a variety of new movies and shows this week, including popular blockbusters, independent films, and sci-fi thrillers. They’re also saying goodbye to some action titles. Highlights include a scary new horror movie and a fun, throwback supernatural story. Later in the week, you can watch a debut film directed by actor Harris Dickinson and a suspenseful space thriller with Kate Mara. But don’t wait too long – a vampire comedy and a historical war movie will be leaving the service soon!

‘Smile’ (2022)

Okay, so I recently saw this movie, and it seriously messed with my head! It’s about a doctor, Dr. Rose Cotter, who sees something awful happen to a patient and then starts being haunted by genuinely creepy stuff she can’t figure out. It quickly becomes this intense, terrifying experience for her, and she has to dig into her own past to try and survive. What I loved is that it’s not just jump scares; it really explores how trauma affects you, but through a really unsettling, supernatural lens. The atmosphere is just suffocating! It’s the director, Parker Finn’s, first movie, and it was a huge success – totally understandable given how original and frightening it is. If you’re looking for something to stream, it drops on Monday, February 16th.

‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ (2021)

When a single mom and her kids move to a small town, they uncover a surprising link to the original Ghostbusters and a hidden family history left by their grandfather. Directed by Jason Reitman, this film is a direct continuation of the beloved 1980s movies, offering a fun mix of familiar moments and a new story. Starring Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, and Finn Wolfhard, it also features some of the original Ghostbusters cast. The movie breathes new life into the series with plenty of laughs, heartwarming moments, and thrilling supernatural encounters. It arrives on Monday, February 16th.

‘Urchin’ (2025)

Harris Dickinson’s first time directing is a hard-hitting drama about Mike, a young, homeless man in London battling addiction and trying to escape poverty. The film realistically portrays his difficult life on the streets, while also using dreamlike sequences to show his declining mental state. Frank Dillane gives a strong performance in this story, which explores a lack of compassion in today’s world and focuses on one man’s struggle to find stability. The film was praised by critics at several film festivals for its honest and unflinching look at the subject matter. It will be available to stream this Tuesday, February 17th.

‘The Astronaut’ (2025)

In the sci-fi thriller arriving on Hulu this Friday, February 20th, Kate Mara plays Sam Walker, an astronaut who comes back to Earth after a disastrous space mission. She’s placed in a secure facility to recover, but under the supervision of General William Harris (Laurence Fishburne), Sam starts to believe something alien has returned with her. The film, directed by Jess Varley, is a tense and unsettling story about paranoia and isolation, as Sam struggles to determine what’s real and why she’s being held in quarantine, and features surprising turns of events.

‘Slayers’ (2022)

A group of popular internet personalities are invited to the mansion of a wealthy, mysterious billionaire, thinking it’s a special event. They quickly realize they’ve been lured into a trap by a villainous vampire who believes wiping them out will save humanity. Starring Thomas Jane as a classic vampire hunter, the film follows an unlikely alliance between him and the influencers as they fight to survive. This horror-comedy playfully pokes fun at influencer culture with lots of action and gore. Don’t miss it – it leaves theaters on Wednesday, February 18th.

‘Medieval’ (2022)

As a film buff, I recently checked out this historical action movie about Jan Žižka, a seriously legendary Czech warrior from the 1400s – the guy never lost a battle! Ben Foster is fantastic as Žižka, portraying him as this tough mercenary thrown into a really messy power struggle between the Teutonic Order and the Holy Roman Empire. The film follows his attempt to kidnap a noblewoman, and that single mission spirals into a huge war filled with betrayals and ultimately, a fight for Czech identity. It’s a pretty brutal and dark look at a violent period in European history. Just a heads-up, it’s leaving the streaming platform on February 22nd, so you might want to catch it before it’s gone!

Tell us which of these new arrivals you are most excited to watch in the comments.
