Henry Cavill’s Superman Salary Falls Short Compared to Tyler Hoechlin’s Earnings on ‘Superman & Lois’

As a long-time gamer who has followed Superman‘s cinematic journey since Christopher Reeve donned the cape and flew for the first time, it’s fascinating to see the evolution of this iconic character portrayed by different actors. I remember when Henry Cavill stepped into the red boots for Man of Steel and the excitement that brought. However, as I delve deeper into the world of salaries, I find myself scratching my head in disbelief.

One of the most cherished fictitious figures is Superman, who has captivated audiences for years. Numerous movies have been made based on this iconic character. Among those who’ve donned the cape are Henry Cavill, famously known for his portrayal in the unsuccessful DCEU, and Tyler Hoechlin, starring as Superman in the series Superman and Lois on The CW.

Henry Cavill no longer plays Superman because James Gunn and Peter Safran chose to restart the movie universe following the underperformance of DCEU. Tyler Hoechlin’s tenure as Superman is also coming to an end, with rumors suggesting that the current fourth season of “Superman and Lois” will be its last, partly due to James Gunn’s involvement.

Despite the larger budget for the DCEU and the success of “Man of Steel”, one might expect Henry Cavill to make significantly more money than Tyler Hoechlin. Contrary to expectations, this isn’t true in their cases.

In 2013, Henry Cavill’s debut as a superhero lead in “Man of Steel” paid him an average starting wage of around $300,000. As his popularity grew, particularly with performances such as those in “The Witcher,” where he allegedly earned $400,000 per episode for the first season and a million dollars per episode for the second, his income soared. For his appearance in “Black Adam,” Cavill was compensated $250,000.

It’s not uncommon for actors to renegotiate their deals, and in Hoechlin’s case, he earns between $100,000 and $200,000 per episode of Superman & Lois. Given that the show typically has around 15 episodes per season, his earnings can easily reach millions.

It’s worth mentioning that acting salaries in TV shows are usually episode-based, accumulating to a larger sum over the course of a season. Since Cavill wasn’t a big name when he initially portrayed Superman, his earnings were relatively lower. However, Hoechlin’s popularity skyrocketed due to his performances in a well-known TV series.
