A few years back, it was announced that Hello Kitty would be getting a movie combining animation and live-action. We haven’t heard much about it since, but according to a recent report, the movie is still in the works. New Line and Warner Bros. revealed on Instagram that it’s scheduled to be released in theaters on July 21, 2028 – which is quite a few years from now!
They might be holding off on a Hello Kitty movie to see how Mattel’s other film projects perform. While Barbie was a success, these other movies could fail, suggesting a Hello Kitty film might not be a good investment.
Canceling the movie now would be surprising, given how popular Hello Kitty is – people are dedicated fans and would likely see it regardless. Currently, details about the film are being kept secret, and it could be another two years before we learn more. It’s best to be patient and see how things develop.
