He-Man Movie ‘Quite Different’ Says Nicholas Galitzine

It seems that Nicholas Galitzine‘s recent statements might be corroborating the details and speculations surrounding the forthcoming live-action “Masters of the Universe” film.

“Our version is quite different

In a recent chat with THR, the 30-year-old actor was inquired about how the cherished animated show differs from his film.

I’ve got to say, our adaptation deviates significantly from the initial animation. It was undeniably campy and fitting for its time, but we’ve had a few updates since then, including the ‘Revelation’ version of ‘Master of the Universe’ and the comics. We’re essentially viewing our script as a blueprint or guide. It’s truly fascinating to learn about the impact this show had on so many people. It was incredibly influential, serving as a formative experience for many. So, it’s thrilling to be working on something that will appeal to nostalgic fans and potentially draw in a new crowd too.

What are the descriptions?

In contrast to what some people might think, the upcoming He-Man movie takes place on our planet Earth, rather than Eternia, which is where the original Masters of the Universe storyline is based. Interestingly, the 1987 Masters of the Universe film was also set on Earth and has been criticized for its quality. It seems possible that setting the new movie on Earth could be a cost-saving measure in terms of production budget.

Lately, I came across the news that filmmaker Daniel RPK hinted at the upcoming He-Man film where the character Adam would be portrayed as an individual in the actual world, juggling a monotonous office job.

In simpler terms, the scooper mentioned that the entire tale of He-Man and Masters of the Universe was something he had heard as a child. Moreover, instead of simply presenting another showcase of fights and spells, Adam embarks on a quest for self-discovery.

The previous plot description from the trades also says more of the same:

10-year-old Prince Adam, who arrived on Earth in a spaceship and lost his enchanted Power Sword, the only connection to his planet Eternia. Nearly twenty years later, he locates his sword and is transported back through space to save Eternia from the wicked Skeletor. However, to vanquish such a formidable enemy, Prince Adam must first solve the riddles of his past and transform into He-Man: the mightiest being in the cosmos!

Amazon studios are “f’n idiots”

Lately, Kevin Smith took an unexpected turn with his contemporary social-consciousness style in his Netflix animated series. However, this new approach led to significant criticism and a steep drop in viewership. Yet, he made adjustments to the second part of the series, and surprisingly, it turned out quite good.

Amazon Studios, known for hit series like “The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power” and “Reacher”, is also developing the live-action He-Man. They’re also working on a reimagined Voltron film. Interestingly, they hold the movie rights to James Bond, but recent comments from the franchise’s long-time owner suggest that Amazon Studios may not be handling it effectively.

Essentially, these tech firms with deep pockets are eager to attract as many viewers as possible to their streaming platforms, and that’s why shows like He-Man will be available on streaming services quite soon – much like how Amazon’s Red One movie was released early on streaming, despite bombing at the box office. It’s worth noting that Red One is actually a good film.
