She emphatically denied ever making such a request and revealed that neither she nor McConaughey used any deodorants on set. However, she did share an intriguing detail – she could detect his scent from a distance and described their strong connection during filming.

How did the rumor about Matthew McConaughey’s scent begin?
McConaughey might have been the source of the rumor during an interview with Playboy. Back then, he shared that Hudson frequently suggested using salt rocks to eliminate odors while they were filming “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” He never followed her advice, but they both embraced natural living. This incident could have sparked the speculation.
McConaughey is well-known for his preference against using deodorant. For over 40 years, he has gone without it. Moreover, his mother and other significant females in his life have never expressed concerns about his natural body odor.
