HBO’s Harry Potter Remake Leaked Photos Spark Debate Over Hogwarts Express Design

The upcoming HBO Harry Potter TV series is drawing comparisons to the films, and recently released pictures of the Hogwarts Express train aren’t making those comparisons any easier. Many viewers are already commenting on the differences.

The idea for the show is to cover one book each season, allowing the creators to add more details than were possible in the films. However, some fans are concerned that the series will constantly be compared to, and overshadowed by, the popular movies.

The official Wizarding World account on X (formerly Twitter) recently posted photos and a brief video showcasing the Hogwarts Express as featured in the show.

A lot of people quickly pointed out the striking resemblance between the train and the one featured in the films. Some viewers playfully suggested it seemed like a glimpse behind the scenes from the classic movies.

Is it the same as in the movies? Or just very similar?” One commenter asked.

Chris Columbus, the director of the first two Harry Potter films, has also shared his thoughts on the TV series. He expressed his disapproval of HBO’s decision to reuse the Hagrid costume originally designed for the movies.

“I honestly questioned what the purpose of it all was,” Columbus admitted, explaining he’d envisioned the series unfolding in a different way. He probably feels the same way about the Hogwarts Express, too.

As a huge fan, I’m really excited about this TV series and how it could really delve into the source material. However, the first glimpses we’ve gotten make me a little worried it might just rehash what we’ve already seen in the films, instead of offering something fresh. I’m hoping they’ll take some risks and expand on the books, but it’s a concern right now.
