HBO Drops Mind-Blowing First Look at New ‘Harry Potter’ Series

HBO has shared the first look at its upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series, and fans are already getting excited. The network revealed a picture on Tuesday of a young Harry Potter walking towards the Quidditch field.

The image shows Harry, wearing his Gryffindor Quidditch uniform and carrying his broom, from behind. Viewers quickly spotted a banner referencing “Fred and George,” Ron Weasley’s playful older brothers. HBO noted this was a nice detail for dedicated fans of the series.

Dominic McLaughlin will star as Harry, alongside Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. The actors were officially confirmed in May, and filming began just two months later in July. HBO has announced a full trailer will be released on Wednesday. The trailer was accompanied by a lightning bolt emoji, likely referencing Harry’s famous scar, but the show’s plot remains a mystery.

I was so excited to hear about the new Harry Potter TV series, which was first announced in 2023 when HBO revamped its streaming service (it’s back to HBO Max now!). It’s interesting that none of the original actors are involved, but honestly, Daniel Radcliffe seems genuinely thrilled about it. He even told Stephen Colbert that he’d love for his own child to be able to enjoy a new version of Harry Potter – he joked that watching it with his dad (aka himself!) wouldn’t be quite as cool. I totally get what he means – it’s great that a new generation will get their own Harry Potter experience!

Radcliffe also contacted McLaughlin to offer his support. He asked fans to avoid comparing the new cast to himself, Emma Watson, or Rupert Grint, emphasizing that this series should be enjoyed as its own unique story.
