
Good news for fans of the HBO crime drama Task: it’s been renewed for a second season! Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as FBI agent Tom Brandis.
HBO and HBO Max Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys revealed the renewal at a press event in New York.
Brad Ingelsby, the creator and showrunner of the series, expressed his gratitude for HBO’s consistent support of ‘Task,’ starting with the initial script, continuing through filming, and extending to the impressive launch of the first season.
This is a truly exceptional creative environment. Speaking for everyone involved in ‘Task,’ both in front of and behind the camera, I’m thrilled to be starting work on season two.
Francesca Orsi, HBO’s head of programming, also spoke highly of the show and its creator. She said they recognized the show’s potential long before it premiered, but were thrilled to see how enthusiastically audiences embraced it each week. Orsi praised creator Brad Ingelsby’s ability to combine compelling characters and emotional stories with exciting and complex plots, calling him one of the best in the industry and expressing confidence that season two will be just as captivating.
The first season of Task was a hit with both critics and audiences. Its compelling combination of thrilling crime plots and well-developed characters quickly established it as one of HBO’s best dramas. The upcoming second season is set to deliver more of the suspenseful and captivating cases led by Ruffalo’s character.
