As a die-hard Star Wars fan who lived through the dark ages of the Expanded Universe (now Legends), I can’t contain my excitement about the upcoming Heir to the Empire 3.75 inch action figures! Five years after Return of the Jedi, these iconic characters have once again found their way into my collection, just like they did back when I was a kid and had to save every allowance penny for those coveted Kenner toys.
For devoted Star Wars enthusiasts, the period from 1984-1990 was often referred to as a “bleak era.” During this span, there were scarcely any new Star Wars movies, games, comics, or related content. Star Wars seemed like an antique relic from the past. However, in 1991, the story resumed with Timothy Zahn’s novel titled “Heir to the Empire.” Most notably, this book introduced Grand Admiral Thrawn into the Star Wars universe. Despite the termination of the old Expanded Universe continuity, significant aspects, such as Thrawn, have endured. In Spring 2025, Hasbro will launch a collector’s set inspired by “Heir to the Empire,” consisting of Thrawn, his faithful subordinate Captain Pellaeon, and the fallen Jedi Master Joruus C’baoth.
