One popular Netflix series, “The Recruit,” featuring Noah Centineo, has been sadly canceled following two seasons. This announcement was made by the streaming service less than a month after the second season’s premiere in early April. For those who may not be aware, this gripping spy series initially debuted at the end of January.
According to reports, Colton Dunn, who played Lester Kitchens in the show, initially revealed the news on social media. This character was a coworker of Centineo’s. Later, Netflix also confirmed this information.
The production company, Lionsgate (which took over eOne), along with Hypnotic, developed a project called The Recruit, the brainchild of Alexi Hawkey.
It’s important to note that the second season of The Recruit faced significant delays due to a writers’ strike, pushing it back by nearly two years. In fact, The Recruit quickly climbed to the second spot on both Nielsen’s streaming charts and Netflix’s own rankings within its first week of release.
Previously, the series accumulated approximately 5.9 million views and was watched for a total of 31.8 million hours. However, during its second week, there was an increase in viewership, with the series being viewed about 6.1 million times and racking up 33 million hours of watch time.
Regarding the second installment of The Recruit, unlike its initial season which boasted eight episodes, it featured only six.
In the initial season of “The Recruit,” we follow the narrative of Owen Hendricks, portrayed by Centineo, an up-and-coming CIA attorney. This particular character discovers a menacing note left behind by a former asset, Max Meladze, brilliantly played by Laura Haddock.
In the letter, she warns that she will reveal the agency unless they clear her name in this severe allegation. This predicament pulls Owen Hendricks into a sphere of high-stakes political maneuvering.
